Been working on these for a while now. These are for CDT m6 and a CDT hd-3" ALright so first of all Thanks to Berny for 1) The CDT HD-62-m6 and 2) for all the fiberglass help. Thanks to Exige Audio for the hd-3"s Thanks to Steve and Nick V for thier Fiberglass help as well. Thanks to epicenter designs on fiberglass forums for the speaker rings. Also thanks to Brad Warren for IRfanview because otherwise you would all be looking at photobucket links.
Ok here we go. First heres the door. the bottom panel was removed.
Resin
Mat
Door taped off. I made a recess to add more airspace for the M6(large foil part).
First layer of mat.
There a blue tint to this because i believe i didnt use enough hardener on this door. There's about 2 1/2 layers here.
Driver's side
Speaker ring mounted
Speakers dropped in.
Test Wrapped
I thought of this idea while Working on them. Both the M6 and HD-3" have higher than normal Xmaxes for thier size. So i wanted to keep them from effecting each other's performance. So i glassed the area around the HD-3" to seal it off from the M6
Another pic of HD-3" sealed off
And another
Inside shot
Wrapped and soaked in resin. With this you want a material that is absorbant but not too absorbant and streches. the soaked fleece isn't the strength of the pod the mat is. The fleece just provides a sturdy place to lay more mat.
Saoked
First layer of mat
Another shot
And another
There's 1 1/2 to 2 layers on the outside of the pods
Rage filler layed down and sanded
another
and another
one more
Uno mas
And this is where we stand today. I still have alot of sanding and touching up to do and still have to wrap it, but we're getting there.
lookin good man. Ive been waiting about 3 months on my paint guy to paint mine. I think Im about to just get them back and wrap them in vinyl to match my interior
Yea berny as soon as i layed down the filler i knew i put way too much, but it hardened before i could do anything about it. The second pod has alot less on it but still has too much. I actually put less hardener than what was recomended since it didn't stay in a gel state for very long.
