What is the best way to mount a sub?

I have a 15" Kicker L5. Is it best to mount the subwoofer so the face is facing out (like any other speaker) or in(where the face is inside the box)? Any help is appreciated.

Facing out. It makes no difference in sound or SPL but with the motor outside you can get motor noise.
