Silver Member Username: BonhamdTC, MI USA Post Number: 881 Registered: Nov-07 | x2 - you can get something better all around for $450 |
Silver Member Username: JemoneStone Mountain, Georgia United States Post Number: 302 Registered: Jan-06 | You can get that sub for $250 shipped, and they are low bottom beasts!!! |
Silver Member Username: Hittin1Lake Charles, La. United States Post Number: 755 Registered: May-07 | X3 not worth $450 I'm not a fan of Lanzar products... Most of their stuff is trash... however I've heard that the OPTI line is not like their cheap sh!t.. same sub but a lot cheaper http://cgi.ebay.com/Lanzar-OPTI1535D-15-Subwoofer-Car-Woofer_W0QQitemZ1101194654 46QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 |

I figured id copy and paste to this link since it has the most responses now. https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/502989.html me...."Lanzar was a decent product before they went out of business but later pyramid bought them out and took over. They are not good now. For that kind of money you can buy a solid product from other companies that will out perform that sub woofer and are built much better." elandman...."Damn. Then ill have to broaden my options. Any suggestions? Looking for 15inch that does some serious damage!!" me...."If your looking for a sub woofer thats a spl monster a digital designs subwoofer would be the one for you. A 3515 would be a level that would get loud with decent sq but you will need to give it around 1200 watts. What vehicle do you have." |

New member Username: ElandmanPost Number: 6 Registered: Jul-08 | Ive got a Renault hatchback. Running about 3000w rms amp at mo. Ive been running 2 lanzar 12's for a year now at IASCA shows, so cant enter same class again. So looking to go 1 15inch, either sealed or ported box, still deciding. But in meantime im looking for a nice spl 15' sub that can handle some serious juice. |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 9931 Registered: Jun-04 | "Sean has his crystal ball out :D" haha yeah Those companies Nick mentioned are also good. I wasnt a fan of the Fi subs because of some problems they seemed to have but im told they have a new woven design out now so the tinsels shouldnt be an issue anymore. |
Gold Member Username: Tatonka-[Team Audible Insanity]- Post Number: 1975 Registered: Mar-07 | What is your budget man? And what amp do you have? |
New member Username: ElandmanPost Number: 7 Registered: Jul-08 | Budget is about $400, I've got 3 amps, StarSound 12k, StarSound D7000, and a Lanzar MXA282. The Starsounds are made locally in SouthAfrica, and most of us use them for SPL here. I chop and change between amps depending on who im competing against and what the flavour of the day is |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 9932 Registered: Jun-04 | id say go with a digital designs 9500 |
Gold Member Username: Tatonka-[Team Audible Insanity]- Post Number: 1979 Registered: Mar-07 | For $400 sean? I was thinking more of an Alpha or a BTL. I'm not sure about what power those StarSounds put out, but if it's nowhere near 2.5k+, then the 9500 series will not perform like they can. |
New member Username: ElandmanPost Number: 8 Registered: Jul-08 | I've seen them in action and sound impressive! But here in SA they have a FAT pricetag on them, about $8/900 in SA rands equivalent What do you guys think about MTX's. They visually impressive, they cost a fortune, but do they perform? And Hifonix? Shot for all the prompt responses too :D SHOTALOT! |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 9933 Registered: Jun-04 | "For $400 sean?" Yeah I was thinking used or an ebay deal for a new one when I posted that. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=280246663842&Category=18804 |
Gold Member Username: Tatonka-[Team Audible Insanity]- Post Number: 1980 Registered: Mar-07 | Eland, MTX are decent subs, but not worth the money also. Hifonics are a good budget brand. I have ran a few of their amps with no problems at all. I think Ray runs a few of their subs. For new, the Alpha or BTL will be probably your best bet. |
Gold Member Username: Tatonka-[Team Audible Insanity]- Post Number: 1981 Registered: Mar-07 | Good find, Sean. There is already 14 bids. Maybe you can luck up and win it for the price you want |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 9934 Registered: Jun-04 | Also what ohm load are these amps stable to. |
New member Username: ElandmanPost Number: 9 Registered: Jul-08 | The StarSound D7000 puts out about 3000rms at 1ohm at 14.4volts The StarSound 12k puts out around 4000rms at same voltage and ohms. And occationally push up to 16volts then puts out close to 6000rms. Capable of 7500rms at 18volts. Now obviously 1 sub wont handle all that power, but looking for at least capable of 2000rms without making clouds of smoke and fireworks. Also capable of bassboxing on occation. Shot guys, will keep looking around :D |
New member Username: ElandmanPost Number: 10 Registered: Jul-08 | Nice, thanks for the advice guys!! Nice to get some other opinions in another country. Guys can get tunnel vision around here ;) Will do some shopping around and see what prices i can get over here in SA for those brands mentioned. Thanks a million :D |
