alright for like the 3rd time i am going to post an other thread on this.
for a pair of 18s powered by an aq 2200.
i was about to order a pair of BLs but i emailed AQ to see what they had to say on how the 2 compare. this is what they said "The HDC318 is more comparable to the DD9518. The HDC3 series is more comparable to the fully loaded Fi BTL. We don't charge extra for options on our subs. They come with all the options. "
now i know that some of the options that fi has i dont want but some i do.
the BL has a higher senitivity but i don't see the xmas on the hdc3s
is the aq really just all out better than the bl? better and cheaper? or r they just trying to sell more stuff
First off the DD9518 would kill any of those subs.
Ive never heard the BLs but i have heard a fully loaded BTL 15 and 18. Neither impressed me to be honest, they are loud but the sq is pretty weak. I have only heard one HDC12 it was a great IMO for the price but still not the best out there. If you want to get an FI product i would stick to the Q...
LOL the btl will handle waaayyyy more power then what you guys think. look at troy he runs 4k to each of his. they handle it no problem. and I would put money on a hdc with alum coils against a stock 9518g any day.
honestly you don't have enough power for anything but the bl s or maybe even some sx 18s. I think some mach5 ixls would be a good option as well. but im not 100% sure if they make them in 18s =( also look at the aa havocs. if you wanted a a more lil spl setup lacking a little sq maybe roll with 2 alpha 18s.
does dd make the 3500 in a 18? that would alsp be a good choice imo
just run one HDC318....and i know prolly most of u know, but DJ owns AQ and his son owns DD...i talk to DJ all the time and he says for the most part anything u can do with a 95 u can do with a HDC...and for sheer size comparison the 95 is only heavier by a few pounds...i forget exactly...340oz magnet vs 405 i think...so around 4lbs.....and HDC over 35...cheaper and out performs...like ya'll said like a 95
but if the hdc3 is just as good or better i would love to get them! it would save me a tone of money.... i am thinking hdc3s now.. but y r they better?
btw benjamin, have you considered running a pair of rd audio alpha? to me the sq of the alpha destroys all of the subs mentioned above and the output is ridiculous too. it gets LOUD!!! (((((BOOM))))) (((((BOOM)))))
Just because the HDC is cheaper doesnt mean is not as good, AQ uses some of the best parts and dont try to rip off the customers and make mad profit...they basically give a great product at a great deal, unlike some other companys like, for example american bass, they tried to copy the HDC's, but basically the only think they share (looks) is the cone and basket and the AB subs use lower quality coils along with other parts, but then slap a higher price on them...and a bl on 2200rms would definitely be pushing it...my friend has a bl on a 1200D and that would be much more suitable....with an HDC u can be versatile because of the very strong motor and run 1200rms, or 2200rms or more....also, the HDC might not be thee best low end monster, but it will still get plenty low and sound really good if u tune it to around 36hz, but still kills in SPL. Plus DJ is a great guy to deal with, great customer support.
in all seriousness? out of the above choices? aq. hd3c. they are all outstanding woofers in there own right, BUT aq is the clear leader in value/performance here. i would actually suggest the ixl 18, though, if the ohm load suits you.
