how uses that for making layouts for boxes? i have it but i have so much trouble with it. i guess i am skethup retarded. is there any other program that i can use for making a good 3d layout of what i am about to make? or maybe some vids on how to use sketchup? i watched the little how to vid but i didn't get much out of it
I been using sketch up for a couple of years now and when I started using the program, it took me about an hour to learn it.
Best advise is to view the tutorials to learn about the program and how to use it and what the different functions are for. You may have to watch them more than once to get a full understanding of what the task is being performed or what you want to do.
But, if you just start with the basic's of the what you can do with it and get the hang of that first, then using the other functions to do things will come much easier.
ben it takes a little time. i am finally getting the hang of it. but i am no where near what philster can do. he is the sketchup god.
phil since you mentioned the frustrations with slow drivers, i have one that really bugs me. of course the slow drivers in the fast lane bother the hell out of me. but the worst are those drivers that just get on the freeway and begin to merge in to traffic. they will speed up and drive in the shoulder if they have to just to get in front of me. there's plenty of space behind me but for some reason these stupid azz mofos insist on getting in front of me. i wish i had a missile launcher on my car everytime someone does that.
OK, post the spec's, details and what not for the enclosure and I'll dl that version, do the design and pm ya a file attachment that you can open with sketch up and monkey around with it.
Chad try using the push pull tool. For anyone who cares to learn heres is a simple sealed box. It obviously gets more complicated woth a ported design. Draw the base
Then use the push pull tool tto raise the base to the desired height.
Then draw the lines for the walls. make these the width of the wall.
Then use the push pull tool to raise the wall to the desired height.
finish the walls
Draw the side of the top piece
Use the push pull piece to bring the top peice across.
draw the circle for the subs
use the push pull tool to push through the box for the hole.
