Friday, June 13, 2008 - 17:45 GMT i have around 5.5 cubes for the box i made for my 2 alpine type r's. apparently i shouldn't have more than about 2 cuft per sub, so will this drastically reduce sq or spl?

Friday, June 13, 2008 - 18:07 GMT is it a sealed box or a ported box? sealed box then yeah it is rather big but if its ported box then you should be fine. also if it is ported, did you calculate the port displacement before deciding it was 5.5 cuft?

Friday, June 13, 2008 - 19:45 GMT its ported, no i didn't calculate port displacement. i don't mean to sound dumb but what is port displacement? the total volume of the ported area?

Friday, June 13, 2008 - 20:03 GMT also the displacement of 2 of those subs would be around .14 so that will reduce it a bit. not much but a little.

Friday, June 13, 2008 - 20:14 GMT "its ported, no i didn't calculate port displacement." So you built a box without coming up with any specs for it?

Friday, June 13, 2008 - 20:49 GMT thats where i messed up... BIG TIME. i based it off of diminsions of a ported box i found online, i didn't even know how to figure out where its tuned at when i built it. i built it last summer when i was very new with car audio. i'll put up some pics/videos when i get a chance and maybe you could suggest on whether i should just make a new one or not, now that i'm more educated on the subject. i will admit this is the only system out of anyone of my friends that makes my ears ring
