New member here...the slow moving car audio forum on VWVortex has led me here, looks like a great community. I just got a set of these 6.5 inch Arc Audio components for free.

I have a 2005 VW GTI with the monsoon audio system. My plan is to leave the stock headunit, and put these components in the stock locations for the woofer and tweeter to maintaing an OEM look. I have an old rockford punch 600.4 4 channel ampt hat I found buried in my closet which I will use to power these. I have a few questions.

Is this component set any good? Based on my limited investigation, they are a budget set of speakers, but people seem to really like them in this price range.

My amp can provide 75 wattx rms x 2 or 150 wattx rsx x 2 when bridged. These speakers are rated for 50 watts RMS but some say they can handle more. How should I wire them to the amp?

I purchase this converter: http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/METRA_74_90003.html

it was a bit pricey but i hope it will make the install easier and provide better sound quality then a cheap, non OEM converter.

Thanks in advance for any and all help and input.

I haven't had any listening time with those Arc components, but Arc is a solid company overall. If it's got their name on it, I would expect them to be decent.

Your will be fine for those...no need to bridge. Make sure to fully deaden your doors with sound deadener and seal everything up the best you can. Experiment with tweeter placement. Though the stock locations may be convenient, other spots might sound better. Use a piece of velcro to mount it temporarily at different points before you decide on a final spot. Good luck!
