Well I havent been on here in a while so I guess I'll return with a question...
Im gunna start building a box, hopefully soon, but first i gotta figure out exactly what im building.
With a ported box does it matter how large the port opening is? I know there are downfalls to having it too small such as port noise/whistling, but is there a downfall to making a port that is very large? this will be a box for 2 12" type-r's and i was thinking of making the port pretty large(mostly cuz I think that is cool, dont know why) the port I was planning on doing would be about 12.5"x6or7". Would there be a downfall to that? Obvoiusly the length will still be appropriate. Oh yeah and the tuning I am shooting for is 35hz
p.s. Whats up with subwoofertools?
That was way longer than it needed to be, but thanks.
Also a too large of a port or box volume and you start raising the risk of a free air situation. The sub, unless designed for it, needs the proper back pressure the air in the box provides.
