Rims or No Rims?

Well yesterday, I got a flat on the NJ Turnpike and its time to get new tires for my car. Talked to my dad and he said he will buy the tires if I buy the rims. Upload

Thats what my car looks like right now. If I do get rims, I want them to be black/dark grey or the off-white color.

Examples of what I'm thinking:

(the background picture of the TC)

I don't have time right now to search for some rims as I'm doing a project. just wanted to get opinions of whether or not you guys think I should get rims or not.

Tomorrow I'll get some more ideas of rims I'm looking at.

Personally, I like the stock rims on the tC. I wouldnt spend the money to get different rims.

But how are the other 3 tires? Are they new tires or originals or what? If the other 3 needed to be replaced soon also, I might say get a whole new set then.

The other 3 are fine. But I'm at the 50k miles mark and my dad thinks we might as well just update all the tires and get all new ones.

I think 18" would be good. 19" would be the biggest I would want. They come stock with 17"s so I think 18"s would look nice.

i would go w/ 18's. 19's are to much rim and you get bounced around to much. I would go with black rims and chrome on the lip of the rim. thats what i have and it looks awesome on a black car

Well just an update but I will not be getting any rims at this moment. Something came up and now it would make no sense for me to spend money on rims.

keep your rims, buy coilovers or lowering springs, your 16s will become perfectly fitted 18s. it will change the look/stance for the better.

btw, yanks where in jersey do you live? i was visiting my brother over the weekend and he lives there now (closer to nyc) and yea the jersey turnpike sucks badly, he bubbled one of his yoko's on his gti like 2 weeks after moving there, cost like 150 bucks to replace bc no shops around there fix yoko's i guess?

but yea, stock rims + lowering/coilvers = wonders

I don't live in NJ Cal. I live in Northern VA, about 30 minutes south of DC. I go up to NYC about once or twice a month now to go to Yankees games with my pops. Might as well buy a home up there though lol.

We'll D-Loc, if you didn't notice we are talking about a Scion TC (pictured above). I would castrate myself before I put 28's on my car.

18s with bigger tires > 19s with thinner tires.

the 18s can still look good as the 19s yanks. the problem with 19s is that if you hit a pot hole, it will bend due to having thinner tires. yes i know the 18s can bend too but not as easy as the 19s. not to mention the ride is much better.

next rims i am getting will be 18s. and also fyi, the guy that bought my 19s used it for a few days and didn't like the ride so he took it off. lol.

get a 5 spoke black with chrome lips. it would look sick. try to get the biggest lips possible.

18-9.5 back
18-8 front.

lol wassup gus. your speakers are still sitting at my house doing nothing. lol.

anyways yanks i know if you do different sizes front and back you won't be able to rotate your tires. but its a little sacrifice to have a sick looking car.
