Bronze Member Username: Haydog_08Arkansas US Post Number: 35 Registered: Oct-06 | Why would u want to put them in individual boxes? u going for sound quality? or bass?...if ur goin for bass get a dual 12" subwoofer box...ported...to a good freq with ur sub for quality i would seal the box..but i would not do individual boxes |

New member Username: Dueceswild16Post Number: 2 Registered: Apr-08 | Could I make a box as good/cheap as this? http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Dual-12-inch-Subwoofer-Box/2667497/product. html#moreinfo |
Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 3835 Registered: Dec-06 | Companies that make those overstock type boxes buy MDF by the trainload. It would be possible to build a similar box to the one I posted for cheaper if you have the skills, but the one you posted is cheaply built and is not big enough volume-wise for your subs. If you are going to build one, copy the sonic model. As far as pre-fabs go that is a very nice cab, I have friends that bought them and they work great for what they are. |
New member Username: Dueceswild16Post Number: 3 Registered: Apr-08 | I could most likely build it to size the only thing is the things on the sides. the ports i believe? I don't know how to get those or put em in. |
Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 3837 Registered: Dec-06 | No, the ports are slotted and are on the bottom. What you are seeing are the speaker terminal cups. Skip using those and drill a hole on each just big enough to fit the wire through on the back behind each woofer and caulk any extra space around the wires. |
New member Username: Dueceswild16Post Number: 4 Registered: Apr-08 | oooo ok, so i could just build my own. because I already have my subs... www.hackashack.com/VIEW.jpg those are mind I could just buy 3 more sides of wood and finish it. |

Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 3838 Registered: Dec-06 | Yes, and that is the worst place to use plywood (the baffle). Scrap that idea and build a box completely from 3/4" or 1" MDF. |
New member Username: Dueceswild16Post Number: 5 Registered: Apr-08 | soo it has to be MDF? could i use this then? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7573_Sonic+Sub+Box-+2SL12-2.7.html or is it not big enough? |

Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 3840 Registered: Dec-06 | Yes. That box would work fine too. |
New member Username: Dueceswild16Post Number: 6 Registered: Apr-08 | shitty pardon the language. I'm 16 years of age. I could prolly have my dad do it. but what all would i need. |

Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 3842 Registered: Dec-06 | And this is why I recommended a pre-fab in the first place. Let's face it, the subs you have aren't going to whip up a sonic firestorm, so just buy a pre-fab and go with it until you learn more. Here are the specs to work with: Sealed box: 1.2 cu. ft. Ported box: 2.0 cu. ft. One 4" x 8-3/4" port Tuning frequency: 40Hz |
New member Username: Dueceswild16Post Number: 7 Registered: Apr-08 | haha, ya my cusin is really good with subs and all that I might just have him build it for me during the summer when i see him, where could I go about finding MDF and how much would it cost to make the same box as shown earlier? |
