Bronze Member Username: Corbin01gtiPost Number: 20 Registered: Apr-08 | i used a port calculator. several. the port required for a box tuned to 34hz at 4ft3 is 3.75x4 deep. i might be wrong, but that would make the port calculators wrong. i do know that all the slot ports are huge compared to this.....im not sure being my first go at it. however, like i said this is what the calculation came out to. |

Silver Member Username: DeadrabitPost Number: 347 Registered: Jun-07 | u should of prolly doubled up ur mdf on the side that the sub sets in.. bigger port man, but it looks good for ur first. i have made 4 and still have a lot more to learn |
Bronze Member Username: Corbin01gtiPost Number: 21 Registered: Apr-08 | i did double up on the front baffle. it sits recessed. i failing to understand my port dilema. i followed the recomended port displacement, yet you suggest its not adequate? please explain the logic behind the port being insuffucent please. i might be wrong but i think ive read enoght to grasp a basic concept. i also used a port formula to get the same port area from a slot port and it would of been 12x3x16 so in comparison a smaller aero port puts out as much dsiplacement as a large slot???i dont understand this that well. also if the tuning is correct how is that different from getting the box/sub to par? isnt the tunning the frequency in which the air is displaced making it the same thing as optimal performance? |

Post Number: 13571 Registered: Jul-05 | toolitlle port area = alot of port noise & its like ur 'stiffleing' the sub a general guide for slotport would be at least 12sq" of port per every cuft meaning if a box is 4 cuft then around 48sq of port will be fine OR the equivalent if u want to use 4" aeroports would = to (4) 4: aeroports ... remember if a sub needs 4cuft that should be how much air is left after sub \ port displacements .... |
