I love the looks of those subs, everything from the pure black motor/basket and basket design, to the treated underside of the cone and the stitched surround. Then the wire leads just top it off.

Congrats man, hope to seem some vids

that sh!t is goin to pound lol. damn in the pic with both sub/amps im guessing the new sub is on the left jack? the AQ logo is bigger and its like silver color. The 1st shipment is like white color n smaller. Its going to be 70 degrees today in PA. :-)

haha yeah the new sub is on the left. kinda sucks that there different because the old one it seams to be a sticker. but the new one is painted on. Weather here in MD its going to be a high of 69 degrees. And its going to be foggy and mixed with drizzle's. so later on looks like im building inside... lol

I cant wait to see this thing built...maybe you should make the port removable so you can put a spl port in...what frequency did you hit best at the ecoustics meet

At the meet i think it was about 52 hz. At the Usaudio meet it starts early and on weather.com is says it pm showers. hopefully we dont get any rain. At the ecoustics meet it was supposed to rain but it was pretty nice out so maybe it'll happen here too lol

"Sean i did a little rough box sketch. are you saying this is the way the box should be? sub mounting and all?"

I cant see the picture real well on my monitor but it looks like you have one sub facing up and the other firing backward and I wanted them both facing up with the port on the rear of the box like your old setup

Well its up to you if you want a spl port...but if you do youll need to make the daily port removable...if you can figure out a way that makes it easy for you ill let you know how long the spl port should be

haha well thats good to hear...and yeah the ecoustics meet turned out to be very nice weather

Well i got the box in and subs mounted. and i think we have a problem =/. The subwoofer is going to hit the metal dividing the trunk from the backseat when it is playing.
I dont know what to do.

Damn. No room to play with at all?

You could save 3/4" by flush mounting the subs. Means more cutting tho.

Go Paul!! Thanks man lol. But with the flush mount the box wouldn't fit =[. i guess im just going to have to have one sub in and one out of the trunk. I feel like a damn noob doing that though.

Why wouldn't the box fit with the subs flush mounted in the box? You're not losing much on box volume.

Maybe I'm missing something.

i think im misunderstanding you. By flush are you talking about adding another sheet of MDF over the one thats already there but cutting an even bigger hole so the whole subwoofer will fit? Im saying the subwoofer fits in there in the trunk but when it will play the excursion will make the subwoofer it a piece of metal and it will mess up the sub.

Naw. What I mean is take your current box and cut the hole/s for you subs wider. The acual size of the overall sub. Then cutting some MDF rings and dropping the sub into the enclosure. What you gain is the depth of the mounting thickness of your sub's frame. Like this...

Upload
Upload

You secure the rings from the underside with wood glue and screws. What you're left with is a "flush" mount sub.

I wish what paul said would help but it would still hit. i just have to find someone with a strong enough saw too cut this pos metal out. Well today im going to hook the battery back up and place the amps back there. I got my headunit working again. i think the front plate was just loose

Post Number: 8905

ok well you could take the box out of the car and knock the front baffle off and put a new one on my bro has done it a few times...as an after thought I think you should try the one sub to the front firing into the cab and the other on top like before but make sure its placed right so you have your clearance for the subs excursion this time

Well i might change it up but right now im good. i just have one firing up into the cab and one firing up in the trunk. Now i have to go and get a anl fuse and a set of rca's. Then i should be good to go. install looks like crap but ill clean it up later. i just want it playable for tomorrow and then ill clean it up lol.

Well its all hooked up. but for some reason one of the rca's got stuck in the amp and when i pulled it out it broke, but when i plug it back in it works. so idk. but its loud as hell . ill go take a couple pictures. its not a pretty install. i wanted to get it done before tonight because i have somewhere to go and then tomorrow is the competition. so its not pretty by any means but it sounds pretty

Your saying the rca broke and stuck on the amps rca right if so your lucky but be carefull when you take the broken part off the amp...as far as the box being half in and half out of the trunk they will put you in a different class because of that...but what are you going to do haha...Im glad its loud and I cant wait to get to hear it
