I am in the market for some 6.5 component speakers and am having trouble deciding between diamond hex, boston sl60s, and polk mmc6500... but anywho thats beside the point. my question is, would it be possible to power just my rear alpine coaxials with headunit power and maybe get a two channel amp to power the components in front? At first, i was going to get a 4 channel, but being a SQ nut, am leaning towards just getting a two channel to effectively power the components up front. what would you guys recommend? 4 channel and power all four speakers? 2 channel and really let the components sing? other?? help is very much appreciated, i know you guys know your stuff! thanks again guys, Joe Milner |

As far as the component choices go, I like to listen to rock and acoustics mostly... I would like to be able to achieve the best SQ possible, don't care much at all for SPL. I understand theres no better tool than your own ears when choosing speakers but i was just wondering which of the three i've listed you guys would recommend? I know theres hundreds of redundant threads regarding component suggestions, but i was just wondering. Thanks again for you time |

Also, what's your budget for your components? Grab a 2-channel, run the rears off your head unit. No need for a 4-channel |

I was looking at the vpower line but i don't think they come in 2 channel. Would i see a considerable drop in sound quality if i bridged the 4 channel into 2? also, i have an alpine headunit that pushes 18x4 watts. i don't think its possible to run 36x2 to the 6x9s. That'd probably fry my HU right?? |

Anyway, i was wondering how much power you would recommend feeding to these? i'm not sure if i should get this amp... http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ALPINE-MRP-F300-4-CHANNEL-AMPLIFIER-CAR-STEREO-AMP_W0QQi temZ350043696640QQihZ022QQcategoryZ39739QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or this one http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ALPINE-MRP-F450-4-CHANNEL-AMPLIFIER-CAR-STEREO-AMP_W0QQi temZ350043543394QQihZ022QQcategoryZ39739QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem it'd be nice to save the fourty bucks and get the 300, but what would you guys recommend? do you think 150x2 would be enough?? from what i understand, hexs are rather power hungry. thanks guys |
