Wednesday, April 09, 2008 - 02:07 GMT 98 Silverado 2 DD3515's (maybe 3) 2 IA 20.1's 3 Deka 9a31's ALOT of 2x4's and MDF Well, I got all my 2x4's today and a miter saw. Started cutting a few things for the skeleton, but had to change the original design on the fly. Didn't get anything put together, but got a lil cut. I'm working on it again tomorrow and will get pics then. I'll post pics of the new design in a few mins.

It's 10:15pm now, so no more cutting tonite though. I'll get it framed up tomorrow and hope to have it up and running by Sunday.

Wednesday, April 09, 2008 - 05:14 GMT I'm just going to hold out on everyone until I can get some pics of the built skeleton. MS, For now yes. My go to an s10 later, but I was having hell finding one in good shape for a decent price. Also, I just put ~$1000 back into my Silverado (master cylinder, booster, tires, etc) so I guess I'll just hold on to it for alil bit.

Thursday, April 10, 2008 - 03:16 GMT Got alil done on the wall. Just the very basic layout on the skeleton. The front and back arches are not connected to one another, just layed up in place w/ spacers to get a feel for the size. I have to recalculate the actual airspace too. Angles had to be totally changed from the original design. This should be PLENTY of space for 2 15's though I tried to do more, but the mosquitoes were eating my a22 up! More to come tomorrow. As is sites, the headrests will be ~1.5" from the baffle

Thursday, April 10, 2008 - 04:06 GMT 149's...ha, forget that. I'm chasing 155+ this time around I just crunched some #'s on the new angles and came up w/ ~17cuft gross. So, I'm gonna look at my checking account tomorrow and may go ahead and get the 3rd 3515. Not sure on that one yet though. Prolly just going to try 2 15's to w/ a first try baffle. I hope to have the wall boxed in by Sunday or so. The baffle will come next week some time. May box in all but the baffle and drop a DD512 in a prebuilt box in the corner and meter it for the hell of it

Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 03:49 GMT Well, I worked on it ALLFUCKINGDAY! The only thing I stopped for was class at 9:30-10:45, 2-3, and to go over to the shop and get more 1/0ga terminals. Got dam near everything wired up and moved the stock batt to the drivers side. Had to put a distro-block on the passenger side to allow the stock wiring to reach the drivers side. It got dark, so I had to make do w/ a single run of 4ga from the alt to batt though I'll change that over to 1/0ga tomorrow. BUT I got the subs up and running! The wall is tuned kinda high right now (~52hz), but I am making a few additions that will allow me to bolt in blockers for the port and drop the tuning Even w/ the high tuning it plays ~40hz DAM loud. And track 5 on "Loud as Hell" is pretty mean. That port right in my back is nuts. I'll try and get it on the meter tomorrow. Pics tomorrow also. (may get a few up tonite)

Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 03:51 GMT BTW, it was interesting getting that big fuka in the truck. Took 4 people and I had to take out the passenger side back glass to get it in.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 - 05:56 GMT Well, I feel like a retard I built the port TOTALLY wrong. Gotta knock it out tomorrow after work. How do I know I got it wrong...I metered it and it only did 150.3 at 1.5ohm dcr Here is the big thing though. Being that the port is so close the back wall, the wall is acting like its tuned to ~37-39hz. The portwall is acting like an L-shaped slot vent. That is why ~40hz was crazy loud...lol. The wall peaked at 50hz and was only down ~1.5dB at 40hz. It was also only ~.4dB quieter when metered legal! The 1/4wave from the box to the glass is about 62-65hz, so I'm knocking the port out and trying it w/ the baffle only. I guess I got ahead of myself on this build. It sound DAM nice daily, but not the SPL box it should be. I think I just need to get the note up. More tomorrow. *cliff-notes* me = fuctup da port

Friday, April 25, 2008 - 01:52 GMT Well fuckit. I'm pulling this dam wall out and going back to what I KNOW MY TRUCK LIKES! Either this truck hates walls or it just hates my wall. I knocked the port wall out and it still does the same dam #'s! I'm just going back to my old box for the comp this weekend. I dont have time to testntune the wall and it IS NOT LOUD! Well, I'm pissed. Time to get drunk. Guess the only good thing that came out of this is I finally got my amps/batts in the tool box.

Friday, April 25, 2008 - 04:15 GMT Metered it in the kick and on the dash. 150.3 in the kick (both with and without the long port, 50hz and 65hz) 149.5-.8 Legal...can't remember if the long or short was louder. W/ my old subs/port up box, I was doing 153 in the kick w/ ease and VERY consistently. ~151.8-152.3 legal. And that was all at 47hz. Usaci is starting their new "Area 51" class at the Tyler, TX show this weekend...so I'm going to my old box. It should have a solid 152.5 in it at 51hz. "Area 51" is supposed to be a 51hz class only. Cash pot.

Friday, April 25, 2008 - 14:40 GMT Which kick did you meter it in? i don't want to disappoint you but chevy trucks are normally louder on the driver side kick your wall is loading the passenger side not sure if you ever tried building a setup to load the drivers side but from my experience at all the shows.. trucks like the driver side kick when you metered was the seat folded all the way forward and pushed all the way forward? far up in the kick on passenger side?

Friday, April 25, 2008 - 17:14 GMT My truck does about the same on the drivers and passenger kicks w/ all my setups. Sometimes one is louder than the other, but I'm usually louder on the passenger side. My 153db box is pretty much the same on the pass/driver sides. Just loading the drivers side shouldn't make 3-5dB. At least I don't think. I know that the baffle needs to be braced. That could have alot to do w/ it. But like I said, I don't have time between now and Sunday to really play w/ the wall. It will be easier to pull it out and drop the other box in. I will play w/ it more in a few weeks. Finals are about to catch me and the wall has taken up enough time for now. I'll get it loud, just not right now. I metered the wall every kind of way you can. Even had the passenger seat out part of the time.

Friday, April 25, 2008 - 17:34 GMT seems odd, you might try making it a wedge later on |/---| .. kinda deal if you catch my drift is the wall sealed off from the back? might be getting rear wave cancelation before you take it out you should try it as a 4th order with 1 sub

Friday, April 25, 2008 - 17:44 GMT I think its a combo of a few things going on. I'll deal w/ it later in the summer when I have time. I'm not giving up on it.
