Bronze Member Username: Jladam415Post Number: 40 Registered: May-07 | alright so im done with JL, just not loud enough.. sold my 12w7 got 550, and ive still got the 1000/1, so we can either use the 1000/1 in our scenerio's or sell it and consider it as 500$ more, (ive already got buyers) alright so i just bought some cdt's 6.5's 150rms. i need an amp for those (please recoommend some) and im down at my audio guys house and he is getting me back into the mood for bass... So he throws 2 12" type R DV's in a slot pot box (not sure the dimensions but it wasnt much bigger then the sub) and we throw that in my truck... Ive been looking for LOUD, shake your adams apple, make you sick BASS, that doesnt sound like shiz either... So we get those two in and they are pretty loud (louder then the 12w7) and they definitley project farther (i like to be HEARD when i want to) So he wanted 420 for the two subs and the box, and he will throw in a cap... should i go with that? what should i go with? I am thinking about 15" are the 15" type r's any good? should i keep the 1000/1? what amp should i get (think 2 12"s or 2 15"s) now this is going in the back of a ext cab silverado (on the back seat, so ive got a far amount of room, but nothing huge. ive got a 200a alt on the way but that takes 200$ from the pie. let me know what you guys recommend, thanks |

Gold Member Username: Joebruce15 AQ HD3 Post Number: 1844 Registered: May-04 | Go with a 15" HDC3 and use your JL amp to power it. Throw it in a ported box tuned to 40hz and you'll be loud. www.audioque.com |

Bronze Member Username: Jladam415Post Number: 43 Registered: May-07 | i had the 12w7 in the HO, really just wansnt that loud. thats why i want to go wih 2 subs, and f*ck it i need 15"S and i can really only afford that option if i go Type-R's |

Silver Member Username: DuckaShelby Township, MI United States Post Number: 204 Registered: Jan-08 | You would probably want more power if you are going to run 2 15" type-r's (like between 1500 and 2000rms), but i think the 2 15" r's would be good and loud for the price. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14956 ^try not to pay more than that. |
Gold Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 1202 Registered: Apr-07 | You'll want to get either another 1000/1, or an amp that will put out 2000rms if you go with the BLs or Qs. That's what I'd do, and try to give them 8ft net. Lower tuning will help you get the lows real good, but a higher tuning (32-38hz) will help you gain a bit more spl. I'd take the Q or BL 15 over the W7. Just me. |
Silver Member Username: Prozack52Cincinnati, 2-D615D4 Dia... Post Number: 247 Registered: Feb-08 | the new type r's are garbage lol if you can find some old school ones man those things pound |
Bronze Member Username: Jladam415Post Number: 44 Registered: May-07 | thanks for the help guys... I like the Q's and the BL's but arent they a lot more than 200 a piece, thats about the price range i am looking at, it sounds like the type r 15's are the best bump for the buck... i think i will just sell the amp for 500, whats a good amp that will knock the sht out of those subs? lol about the picture, no i dont, i dont show my sht of or take pics of subs sitting on my back seat, its gone now anyways. i really thought that would be the SUB, i was a jl fanatic just look at my name, time for somethin new. |

Bronze Member Username: Jladam415Post Number: 49 Registered: May-07 | cheese, i was right there with you before i got it, i DREAMED OF IT, but its just not as cool as they say, maybe it was my cabs dynamics (it was a lot louder in the back of an escalade i heard) but its just not that loud, ESPECIALLY at the price.. I think i am going to go with either the two type r 15's or the ssd 15's, my question is which AMP (include price) would be best to push BOTH type-R, or if i got the ssd's BOTH ssd's thanks |
