JL is meant more for SQ than SPL though, or a mixture of both.
I would get the L7s simply because if budget is $500 chances are he won't want to drop another grand on extra charging between batteries and an additional alternator. If he already has a w7 why not a 2nd and 2nd amp with some minor electrical upgrades?
