USA Post Number: 1649 Registered: Oct-07 | its not going to look clean because the pvc pipe is not cosmetically good. but creative idea but yea i agree with capps def needs to be lowered alot like if the pvc pipe was in the shape of a U and everything things was leveled out |
Silver Member Username: Phil_salisburyPost Number: 558 Registered: Sep-06 | Here's a thought: Layout the shape you want it to appear on a piece of mdf and cut that out. Then, see if you can find the same type of tubing material that is used for bendable exhaust for water heater vents, but in a smaller diameter that will allow your mdf part to fit inside the tubing. Glass over the tubing and your done. |

Post Number: 18943 Registered: Oct-05 | i was thinking of doing something like in the pic below. it would be mounted on the ceiling of my trunk and the amp would slide out like a drawer. the problem is i'm afraid the thing that makes it slide out would vibrate alot when the bass hits. also i need to lock in once i slide the tray in. i couldn't find any of those sliders anywhere. |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 8198 Registered: Jun-04 | chad you could do what your thinking just dampen the inside real well where the amp lays and your amp would be fine...just make sure the venting is good so the heat can escape...where exactly do you mean the ceiling of your trunk ...do you mean under the back deck |
Platinum Member Username: BestmankindHttp://www.rdaudio.net... Post Number: 18944 Registered: Oct-05 | like right below the rear window. so when i open the trunk, i can just slide out the amp so it would be in front of me. |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 8201 Registered: Jun-04 | ok...I think were talking about the same place then...whatever you use to make it slide out it would have to be rattle proof too and sealed off when not open id think |

Silver Member Username: SpankinurwoofersGR, MI US Post Number: 330 Registered: Nov-07 | HEY, i was thinking of doing that too! crazy. i just took apart an old filing cabinet that my parents were throwing away, to use the wood for an amp-rack and was goin to use the rails to slide it out like that. only problem was how to lock the rack in place when trunk is closed... |

You know those small sliding bars that lock in place that are on garden gates and such? Just mount one on each side, drill a hole big enough for the bar in the sliding rails just where the amp rack ends. This will make it not slide and when you wanna slide it out, just pull back both lock bars. |
Silver Member Username: SpankinurwoofersGR, MI US Post Number: 331 Registered: Nov-07 | hmmm...dont know exactly what ur talkin about, have a pic of one, lol? |
Silver Member Username: Kyle_lowePost Number: 842 Registered: Apr-06 | a straight piece of metal from the back of the box, then the amp sitting at an angel downward so it hides the bar in the back and gives the appearance that the amp is floating. |

Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 3526 Registered: Mar-06 | Your welcome. I wanted to do one of those. Use full extension bottom mount drawer runners and an 16"-18" actuator. Also have a spring loaded front cover that will ride up the sides when opened. |
