Well I haven't built a box in a while so I figured I'd post this one. Me and another eCoustic's member, Alex Smith, started this yesterday and this is our progress so far. Thank you Dane for the design.
Here's my list of what is yet to have to come. 1) Caulk the box. (15 min) 2) Paint the port black. (5 min) 3) Run the wires. (<5 min) 4) Carpet the box. (1 hour) 5) Re-cone the sub, the coil's black lol. (1 hour) 6) Install the sub and amp, set gains. (30 min)
The sub is of course, the 15" Atomic Apocalypse, and the amp is a BE 1600m1. All of which is going into a 2000 Ford Explorer.
Dane's box plans.
Wood.
Yep, I fit in the box lol.
As you can see, 4" port.
Drawing the circles to jig.
Found a bigger blade that cuts both pieces of the baffle.
A few sub pics.
Lots of screws.
Sexyyyy
The sub is running in my room right now. With that box, it's the loudest thing I've ever ran in my room. With a meager 200 watts, I'm VERY impressed.
Was feeling a lil emo and accidently wounded myself on a screw.
I saw this on ebay a while ago and got it for $160 shipped. He wanted $120 the first time I called the guy and I was about 5 minutes away from him, but it just didn't work and I went home from vacation. Ended up having the dish out some extra cash to ship it a few hundred miles.
As for how it sounds, it's better than I'd expect an SPL sub (this is the SPL version) with a black coil to sound lol.
