Don't go messing with that. The alternator has the pulley it has for a reason, don't put a smaller one on unless the alt manufacturer specifically says you can.

You're not going to get full output at idle, it just doesn't work that way.

Most alt's only do 1/2 their power or less at idle so it's not surpising at all if you get voltage drop at idle that's just the way it is.

Thats what I thought.... CS144

I'd really like to know:
Did that alt fit on your truck and bolt up to all brackets including the one behind the alt?
Did you get a different belt?

it fit perfectly with bolts and wiring harness and everything. the belt was extreamly tight the tension bar was all the way pulled back and it took a little work from me and my friend to get it on there but when you finaly get the belt on it just barly fits and ive had no issues i installed it in june.

my truck is a 2001

Umm it's not supposed to be like that you really should put a longer belt on it.

Are you absolutely sure that the bracket the bolts into the back of the alt case fit on right? I have NEVER seen a CS144 alt fit properly on a vehicle that it wasn't meant for.
Reason I ask, I have researched this before and everyone on s10forum says the rear bracket will not fit right. And without that, the alt case will crack and break eventually.

well i emailed iraggi befor i bought it and they said it would fit. plus on the sit it says its meant for s series trucks. like mabey if the engine isnt a 4.3L it doesnt fit right but it fits fine for me.

and ya i know i really do need to get a new belt like about 1cm longer would be golden i just have had to much other stuff to fix and a belt just isnt at the top of the list.

if you want tomarrow i can take pics of my alt in there and take a pic of the rear bolt sliding in and out freely.

hey M.S., why is my voltage apparently higher when it's cold outside vs. when it gets warmer? for instance, it starts and stays at 14-14.2V when it's cold, whereas it starts at 14V and drops to ~13.8V when it's warmer.
