Slot port tuning?

Mark Scafetta Gold Member Username: Mendonmafia USA Post Number: 1113 Registered: Aug-06	Posted on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 06:24 GMT Why does a slot port have to be shorter to acheive the same tuning? whats the difference if i use the side of my box for the port vs just having a port right in the middle. is it only if you have bends or somthing?

So, a 4" wide slot will 'act' like it is 2" longer than is physically is.
