Monday, February 11, 2008 - 06:24 GMT Why does a slot port have to be shorter to acheive the same tuning? whats the difference if i use the side of my box for the port vs just having a port right in the middle. is it only if you have bends or somthing?

Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:08 GMT it's not shorter, you just have to use L-bends if your sub box isn't deep enough. a side port utilizes no L-bends, usually

Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:53 GMT A slot-ports "usable" length is usually ~1/2 of its width longer than is actually is. So, a 4" wide slot will 'act' like it is 2" longer than is physically is.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 08:50 GMT why tho? what is so much different about using the side of the box as opposed to having a port rigt in the middle of equal area.
