Silver Member Username: TornPost Number: 497 Registered: Jan-07 | what will happen to it if i ran it @ .5 ohms will it go into protect, will the life of it just be shorter or will it overheat and smoke up and trash? |
Gold Member Username: N2audioLawrence, Ks USA Post Number: 1474 Registered: Mar-04 | seems like a waste of an awfully nice amp to me. |
Silver Member Username: TornPost Number: 498 Registered: Jan-07 | lol what wouold happen though. |

Gold Member Username: N2audioLawrence, Ks USA Post Number: 1475 Registered: Mar-04 | best case scenario it gets hot and shuts down. Worst -- poof. I don't think there would be any advantage unless you're cold - it might help warm up your car. |

Silver Member Username: TornPost Number: 508 Registered: Jan-07 | Got many amps Don't need anymore atm maybe I'll part a amp or 2 out later to buy a new one, I think running it @ 2 ohms on that amp will be decent atm; also on that link the RF amp freaks me out man i just dont like how naked the internals are for about a year. |
Gold Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 5161 Registered: Dec-05 | if you want a cheap/0.5 stable amp buy lanzar optidrive 2000d. It does the job. |
Silver Member Username: TornPost Number: 510 Registered: Jan-07 | Julio any online store links to the amp? any other budget suggestions people? thanks |
Gold Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 5168 Registered: Dec-05 | well i think that's a decent 0.5 ohm stable amp for the budget. It's hard to find an amp that's 0.5 stable and brings warranty. Search on ebay or www.lanzar.com They're around 350$ shipped. i think it would be way better to play with something that was meant to work in those conditions |
Silver Member Username: NissankickerGrambling, LA USA Post Number: 206 Registered: Mar-06 | I played my KX1200.1 @ .5 daily for about 6 months, and it NEVER ran hot... It got warmer than it did @ 1ohm... .... But it never shut off or anything of that sort. I believe if you have the voltage, it'll be fine! ... my Nissan Sentra doesn't drop believe 13.2v so, it'll be good... Just don't go A-wall with it! |
Gold Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 5173 Registered: Dec-05 | i wouldn't take that risk with a discontinued amp |
Silver Member Username: NissankickerGrambling, LA USA Post Number: 245 Registered: Mar-06 | He could always ship it to " Db-r.com " .... If anything ever went wrong... |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6221 Registered: Jul-06 | Current draw from the electrical system is not the only problem........ the amps internal devices are not designed to handle an impedance that low. Bottom line: Don't run a 1 ohm rated amp at 0.5 ohm unless it's a Sundown SAZ-1500d, IA 20.1, etc. |
Silver Member Username: NissankickerGrambling, LA USA Post Number: 280 Registered: Mar-06 | The internals in the KX1200.1 are big enough to handle it. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6918 Registered: Jul-06 | For a while. It will cause damage eventually. It is rated 1 ohm minimum for a reason. |
Gold Member Username: SomedonniedudeIllinois United States Post Number: 1274 Registered: May-07 | Do you want to sell this amp? If so how much? I'm looking for one. |
Gold Member Username: Th3pwn3rPost Number:... Post Number: 7498 Registered: Jul-06 | You can run that amp at .5ohms for burps but I really wouldn't daily it that way. I may wire up my subs in parallel one of these days and show my 4 KX1200.1s half the resistance and slam it for the TL. |
