Im lookin at upgrading from and SSD(w/flatwind coil) to a Q. Same power...(zx750.1). Would the Q be louder and still retain better SQ with no options?

The Q and SSD will play lower while the HDC3 will be louder. The Q will most likely hold the best sq out of those 3.

Depending on the options on both subs and the enclosure you may or may not hear much of a difference.

if this is a 15 hdc3 then the lows should be Ok with a 37 hz fs honestly I dont like the sq that much on the low end with the hdc3 12 its acceptable but to be fair it has a 42 hz fs I think ....personaly id do a sd 2.5 over the hdc it sounds better on the lows...set the 2.5 to 600 rms in a daily box and it will slam and give your amp breathing room

i talked with scott awhile ago about the ssd vs. the q. he said that watt for watt, the ssd will be about equal or possibly a little louder than the q. on the other side, obviously, the q is gunna beat the ssd in sq.

My Q's get loud enough for me.

The HDC3 will get low. I had a pair of sd2.5's tuned to 32 hz and they got low and louder to the ear than my cvx's at the same tuning.

Here is a thread on CA with a guy who has 2 15" HDC3's tuned in the mid 20's....25hz I believe.
