Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 19:55 GMT Brother was looking into these subs, around the same pricerange. Looking @ 12"s the SSD's are $190/ea. (800 watts rms) the HDC3's are $230/ea. (1000 watts rms) Which would be the better choice??? Looking for SQL(has a Hifonics BXi2006D to power them)

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 20:00 GMT In all honesty if you're looking for SQL you should look into different subs but between the two I'd get the HDC3 just because I don't like Fi subs.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 20:12 GMT also, probly kinda important lol, he only has about 3.5 cu. ft. to work with. has a box made that fits perfectly, so probly won't be making a new box. How big of a box(or small) would the HDC3's or SX's subs be good in?

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 21:36 GMT Didn't we just have a thread like this?? Anyway, I would guess the SSD would have better lower end while the HDC3 would be louder.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 22:20 GMT i dont know how a tsx would sound in a small enclosure, but when i first got my sx, i had it in a relatively small ported enclosure and it sounded boomy to say the least, wasnt really hitting the lows that well. plenty loud, but now that i have it in a bit bigger of a box, it sounds a lot better. the first box i had was about 1.5ft^3, give or take

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 01:06 GMT or for 620 bucks shipped you could do a single jl 13w7...but thats a good bit more money wise and less cone area but its a nice sub too and will fit in your space if you build a new box....just though id throw that out there

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 02:34 GMT well, thanks for all the input. Sounds like either the re se or ssd then. i think the 13w7 might be a bit much $$$, plus he says he doesn't want to build another box.

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 02:43 GMT if he did get an ssd, what do all the options do for it's performance? flatwind coil, copper coil, and bp power(i assume that one allows it to take more power)???

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 02:54 GMT just curious, how do these(re se's and fi ssd's) stack up against type r's??? ...lol, cuz thats what i'm probly getting...unless i somehow get some more $$$.

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 04:03 GMT well i cant help you out about how the se's and ssds compare to type r's but the flatwind coil increases power handling by about 200rms so it will perform like 1000rms or so, i believe the copper coil is aimed more towards sq applications and bp power adds like 500rms ...not sure if all that is correct by im pretty sure of it

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 04:08 GMT so pretty much the options are either for more power handling or sq. Thanks
