is there really a need for one? cuz i'm look at gettin a mmats d3500.1 for two 3518 in a 10cuft @ 38Hz? Thanks

Yes. Without it you can easily damage the sub(s) with frequencies lower than the tuning of the box.

You REALLY need the SSF with a box tuned at 38 hz.

lol well if the amp doesnt have one then there really isnt anythign you can do. ive had amps that didnt have an SSf and to tell you the truth its just a luxury knob.

its nice to have. just dont play song thats have frequencies at 10hz lol

Lots of bass songs have loud bass into the low 30s...... with a 38 hz tuning you definetly need the SSF.

youll be surprised how inacurrate the tuning calcs can be on the internet. learned that from one of the vets. so 38hz isnt the exact tuning that the enclosure will see could differ from plus or minus 2 hz and considering subs can play 5 hz below tuning freq. i dont really see the need for an SSF. but hey if you can afford it do it up. better safe the sorry. thanks quentin..with that setup youll be doing some pretty decent number soon...
