Friday, January 25, 2008 - 18:51 GMT theoretically that amp should work pretty well, but I've read too many first hand complaints to recommend buying one. To say they're the worst, or even close to the worst is a pretty big stretch though.

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 19:04 GMT OK they are not the worst but they dont worth the money you pay for them.in my opinion i wouldnt want to buy an amp and after a couple of months to fail.i just say there are a lot better choices then kenwood even if you are on a budget.even i thought that they are decent amps and wanted to buy the 8103d but i didnt want to risk.

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 19:16 GMT Yeah kenwood amps suck, they are one of the most common amp I see blown I think you need to push the budget just a little to get a good amp....... look on ebay for a Kicker ZX1000.1 they go for ~$220 + shipping.

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 23:48 GMT That alpines not bad. But I would take Kicker over it. Some others to look at are Memphis, PG,JL and Zapco. Do a search for "the good bad and ugly list" It is a general guide to amp qulity. And on Kenwood amps, The Excelon line is ok for a budget amp. The X811 and X812 are decent and are more reliable then the regular line. Most ppl who blow kenwoods run them improperly at low loads.

Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 20:43 GMT As far as I know, the excelon's power supplies are the same as the regular kenwoods, and that's what always fails........ That alpine is a good amp. The kicker amp would give you a little more power though.
