Thursday, January 17, 2008 - 18:35 GMT well the other day, some dude that works near my work wanted me to hook up an amp for him. so i went to help him. he already had cables ran from the battery to the rear. from the battery it started out as 8 guage. it wasn't long enough so he exteded it using 4 guage. he used electrical tape to extend it. that was still not long enough so he got 10 gauge and made the rest of the way. the funny part was, he had bunch of the 10 gauge cables left so he tied up the extra near the amp.

Thursday, January 17, 2008 - 21:41 GMT Okay, this thread got dumb quick lol (and no I don't mean the orignial question). Copper is copper. The guage is all that matters. You can go to advance and pick up a roll of 12g red and one of black, or use some 12g speaker wire. One says speaker and one doesn't. That's why you see people (like my setup) with 8 guage or larger power wire as speaker wire. While some wire is better than others quality wise, its all just wire. If you do it right you can make it look clean and save cash, but I'd do what looks best.
