Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 490 Registered: Oct-06 | wat would get louder, the R's would be sealed and the BL would be fully loaded and ported..and they would both recieve 1500rms. Im just wondering wat will get louder..i no they both sound about the same sq wise..thanks guys |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5471 Registered: Jul-06 | Tough call. I'd get the type Rs though, b/c if you ever did have more room (I assume thats why they're sealed) you could port them and gain output........ |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 127 Registered: Aug-06 | Despite the fact that the type R's are sealed, they will be louder on that power. |
Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 491 Registered: Oct-06 | thanks for your opions guys..i was actually leaning towards the type Rs anyway..and M.S. your right on the space issue..its in a firebird formula (hatchback) and theres not alot of room. |
Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 493 Registered: Oct-06 | So everyone thinks that 3 type R's would be pretty dang loud in a hatchback?? |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 128 Registered: Aug-06 | One determining factor is the tuning frequency of the ported box for the BL. If it is ported low(31hz and below), the output of the type R's would easily exceed that of the BL. However, the opposite may be yield indistinct output differences. |

Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 496 Registered: Oct-06 | this mite be a dumb question but wat is a sealed box's tuning compared to a ported, if that makes sense?? |
Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 497 Registered: Oct-06 | Y do u say that zpeedy? |
Gold Member Username: Extrmndor3Http://illuzonemu.serv..., ^^^Sick Game Post Number: 7497 Registered: Feb-06 | i had type rs in the past and switched them to my pgs |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5475 Registered: Jul-06 | you don't tune a sealed box........ |
Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 498 Registered: Oct-06 | well i no that, but im wondering wat sealed is like compared to in output like of a ported..like how it is projected?? I must not be making sense |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 131 Registered: Aug-06 | Sealed enclosures produces a wider bandwith than ported enclosures and with greater accuracy, but with a reduced output.. Try two 12 rtypes ported on 1500wrms if space is an issue. They will get loud... Its less hassle with the wiring and buying an amp to match the impedance |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5479 Registered: Jul-06 | Sealed = less ouput than ported Keep in mind the subs has to be designed for the type of enclosure you're using |
Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 499 Registered: Oct-06 | zpeedy i just looked at the PG RSD's..they are a good deal..do they get loud?? and how do they compoare to the type R in SPL and SQ..also can they drop down pretty low sealed?? |

Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 500 Registered: Oct-06 | so those are just the octanes huh?? wow, thats nice man..how are the RSD's?? are they a little better then the ZR's?? |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 132 Registered: Aug-06 | Decide on your budjet... If these are the only subs and sizes you plan on using,You should decide on whether you are looking for sq or sql. This will help you determine the most suitable enclosure and how many subs you need. If your choices are limited to the BL and the R's ,I would suggest with that stick to the R's |
Silver Member Username: Cashby3 10 Stereo ... Post Number: 501 Registered: Oct-06 | I want 3 subs cuz all ive ever owned as long as ive been in car audio is single 12's (Fi Q, DD3500, MTX9500, type X) and 3 10" SI BM's which are nice but i just dont like the way 10s hit, they sound weird trying to get low so im selling all 3. And my power range is around 500rms each sub.. |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 133 Registered: Aug-06 | Colby, if u like ur S.I Bm's then get two 12 Mags or one 15 Mag. |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 134 Registered: Aug-06 | sorry for the spelling.. i meant cody |
Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 135 Registered: Aug-06 | The mags have a rms of 950wrms and will handle 1000wrms and sound great doing it... There's quite a few guys on this forums that has used those subs and can tell you that they are excellent Sql drivers. |

Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 248 Registered: Jan-08 | 34hz |
Gold Member Username: camBC Canada Post Number: 1661 Registered: Nov-06 | "34hz" That tuning may work well in his car, but the optimal tuning for your car is going to be different. Asking, "Will X sub(s) be louder/sound better than X sub(s)?" is absolutely pointless. Enclosure/cabin add too much in the way of variables. I think that, in the optimal ported enclosure, designed for the car, a properly powered 15" BL could out-bump 3 Type-Rs in a sealed enclosure. |
