Whoa that sounded fucked up. Anyway, I see you keep your sub cut outs. Any reason? I can never find any use for them. I keep a few just in case but you have a stock pile of them. J/W. |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 350 Registered: Dec-06 | LOL, as long as you dont decide to post pics of you playing with your wood, I think it will be ok... Well, the only reason I really keep my cut outs is for making rings.... which I dont really do too much of, so I could probably stop keeping them, LOL. But its kinda funny to look at sometime, just looking over and seeing over a 100 circle cutouts stacked there.... |

Platinum Member Username: Rovin4 10 Pioneer... Post Number: 12936 Registered: Jul-05 | looking good thus far ... hey i know its expensive but wont a CNC mdf cutting machine come in very handy in ur line of work since u do box build for a living right ... |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 372 Registered: Dec-06 | I dont do box building for a living. I just do this on the side.... |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 373 Registered: Dec-06 | The plexi for the FI box was CNC'ed today. Turned out pretty cool I think... |
Gold Member Username: Andrew571Stillwater/Edmond, Oklahoma USA Post Number: 1402 Registered: Oct-05 | Fi box looks kinda awkward... Interesting idea though. |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 375 Registered: Dec-06 | What makes it look awkward, in your opinion? Of course I dont expect everyone to like every project... Im always open to ideas, thats why I ask. |
Gold Member Username: Andrew571Stillwater/Edmond, Oklahoma USA Post Number: 1404 Registered: Oct-05 | Well the bracing looks weird to me. I like the whole idea of making the bracing into something to see through the window. But the two V shaped braces look kinda intruded onto the 'Fi' in the middle. And the FC in the top left looks awkwardly small with the Fi directly in the middle. If I would have done this design - I would have done without the V bracings and made it possibly just regular box bracing with the white Fi in the middle. THEN I would not have painted it RED inside.... it shows all the bracing and make the Fi not stand out. I think it would have been cooler if it was all black inside and then the Fi was appeared to be floating. Then if you really wanted to inscribe something into the plexi - then make it a smaller longer logo @ the bottom edge like. FisherCustoms length wise so it doesnt take focus off the floating Fi. I dunno, just my opinion and I think its a cool idea for people to design stuff out of bracing |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan1315 MAG USA Post Number: 8149 Registered: Jul-06 | Looks incredible Fisher. I didn't read the whole thread but can I ask how much the customer is paying for the second box? |
Platinum Member Username: Rovin4 10 Pioneer... Post Number: 12946 Registered: Jul-05 | u guys mostly use 3\4 right ? i like using 1" once space is available & its a powerful sub ...less bracing & energy lost ftw hey man i thought this was ur full time job .... |
Silver Member Username: B3n07Louisville, Ky USA Post Number: 700 Registered: Jul-07 | ok those are some awsome boxs and i cant wait to see them done. |
Silver Member Username: Wolf_houndPhoenix, AZ Post Number: 550 Registered: Sep-05 | Awesome boxes i am liking the elephant box |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 380 Registered: Dec-06 | Well, the reason the bracing is shaped the way it is, is to all the subs to fit down into the box. Since its an upfiring box, we had to leave room for the subs motor. You know what I mean by that? As for the etched FC, like I said in the threads, I really wanted to be able to make it much larger, but I didnt want it to look crowded with the FI logo. So that really limited me.... I really like your idea with the black and white in the box, but that was a customer requirement. Not much I could do there. But, I am doing another box with a logo in the bracing soon, and its going to be black and white, so we will get a chance to see what that looks like. Just giving you the reasons why some of the stuff was done like it was. But I really appreciate your feedback. Like I said earlier, I love hearing peoples opinions, because it allows other ideas to flow. Thanks to everyone else as well for the compliements. Hopefully I will have more updates tonight. |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 381 Registered: Dec-06 | The AudioWerks box is now completely finished, and the Elephant box should be going together rather quickly now... |

Silver Member Username: TornPost Number: 500 Registered: Jan-07 | How much total did you charge for the box? |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 382 Registered: Dec-06 | Thanks Paul. As for the cost, well, I have never done something like this before, so I wasnt for sure how much labor was going to be involved. We will just say I undercharged by quite a bit.... |
Silver Member Username: TornPost Number: 503 Registered: Jan-07 | How much will it cost if someone on this forums asked you to build something like that? |
Silver Member Username: Bjfish11Garden Plain, KS USA Post Number: 383 Registered: Dec-06 | That exact box, to be built again would run $300 shipped with carpet. Basically, my standard 4 cube price, plus an extra $100 for the plexi, bracing, double baffles, and extra labor. |
Gold Member Username: JtownTeam Revolution, Texas Post Number: 1933 Registered: Mar-07 | are the prices on your site including shipping? |
