New member Username: WorthlesstoothPost Number: 10 Registered: Nov-07 | umm what does all that mean exactly? and my budget is pretty much limitless, i mean im not going to spend thousands of dollars on equipment but lets say up to 800 for subs box and amp |
Bronze Member Username: WorthlesstoothPost Number: 11 Registered: Nov-07 | bump need some more help guys. would 2 12" diamond D3 series subs be a good choice too? |
Gold Member Username: camBC Canada Post Number: 1647 Registered: Nov-06 | Oh, that is far from limitless. SQ = Sound Quality SQL = Loud Sound Quality (some people are N@zis and get pissed off if you don't use "LSQ", but it means the same thing) SPL = Sound Pressure Level, which isn't entirely accurate as pressure and amplitude are different. Anyway, it refers to loudness, in this case. I have a pair of Mach 5 Audio MAW-12s. They are quite loud, sound great, and are only about $100 each. They are rated for 350W RMS, but will take more, easily. Mine are getting ~500 Watts each, and, in this box, I don't think they'd complain with a little more. This amp is known to do close to twice it's rated power, and even if it's only doing ~700W, you're still driving them plenty of power. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18424 Then, you have ~300 left for the box, wiring, and other installation accessories. These guys both do great work when it comes to enclosures. http://www.woodlawncabinetry.com/ http://fishercustoms.com/ You can always build your own box, if you feel inclined. Can you believe the forum filters the word "N@zis"? |

Silver Member Username: Phil_salisburyPost Number: 492 Registered: Sep-06 | 2 JL 12w3's ported aren't bad as far as SQ/SPL performance, but for 800 bucks for sub, box and amp, ya can get more bang for the buck depending on what kind of system your putting together for the performance you want. |
Silver Member Username: Dsmith07NC Http://com4.... Post Number: 765 Registered: Jun-06 | i have 2 of the 12" w3v2's(older model) sealed on a 500/1 sounds good and gets pretty loud for 500 watts been meaning to go ported |
Bronze Member Username: WorthlesstoothPost Number: 13 Registered: Nov-07 | cam, the amp u suggested is a mono. how would i bridge that to go to two subs? and were u talking about the JL's or the Diamonds? |
Gold Member Username: camBC Canada Post Number: 1665 Registered: Nov-06 | You wire the subs in parallel. I was talking about the pair of 12s that I have. http://www.mach5audio.com/index-2.html |
Gold Member Username: BlainewPost Number: 2823 Registered: Nov-05 | im tellin ya...if you buy the 13's on ebay..and get a big ported box..it will osund so dam good |
