New member Username: SkaPost Number: 4 Registered: Jan-08 | no, only can only lessin the ohms down to 2 ohms |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 146 Registered: Jan-08 | So I need two (dual 2 ohm) subs to get them down to 1 ohm stable.. |

Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 148 Registered: Jan-08 | Well if I get a 1 ohm amp for now and hook it up to 2 12"s that are dual 2 ohm...will it mess up the subs....even if I turn the gain way down..? |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 149 Registered: Jan-08 | sweet it looks like it is possible....thanks |
Silver Member Username: Philly306., North carolina Post Number: 741 Registered: Apr-07 | whhoa wait. you can wire 2 D4 ohm subs to 1 ohm you can wire 2 D2 subs to .5ohms which most amps cant handle. you have to be careful wiring subs. |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 150 Registered: Jan-08 | well you can wire dual 4's down to 1 ohm...nice!!!!!!! It will just be temp on the subs I have now....Until I get me RE SE's |
New member Username: SkaPost Number: 5 Registered: Jan-08 | um no dude, you have a possibility of blowing your amp, if you have 2 duel 2 ohm subs you can wire ONE of them down to a 1 ohm load, but if you have 2 you can't wire them down to a 1 ohm load... 1 DVC 4OHM= 2 or 8 ohms 2 DVC 4OHM= 1 OR 4 OHMS 1 DVC 2OHM= 1 OR ? OHMS 2 DVC 2OHM= .5 OR ? OHMS |
Silver Member Username: Kyle_lowePost Number: 763 Registered: Apr-06 | ha im not sure the subs are capable of "dueling" like you say but your first two are right and the last two are 1 DVC 2OHM= 1 OR 4 OHMS 2 DVC 2OHM= .5 OR 2 OHMS |
Gold Member Username: Naledge503Http://www.LowDownForu... Post Number: 2688 Registered: Jun-06 | He was asking about 2 D4 subs which can be wired to 1 or 4 ohm. 2 D2 can be wired to .5ohm or 2ohm. 1 DVC 4OHM= 2 or 8 ohms 2 DVC 4OHM= 1 OR 4 OHMS 1 DVC 2OHM= 1 OR 4 OHMS 2 DVC 2OHM= .5 OR 2 OHMS ^^fixed for ya. |
New member Username: SkaPost Number: 6 Registered: Jan-08 | oh sorry, i wasn't exactly sure my bad, but his post right under the wiring pic he said 2 DVC 2 ohm subs, and i don't want him to mess up his system ;-) |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 151 Registered: Jan-08 | nope I am getting ready to buy a 1600 Brutis Hifonics Amp Class (in reality 1200 watts) and I am going to utilize my 2 infinity kappas (the old ones) and I think they are dual 4 ohm...so since this amp is a mono block and only runs a 1 ohm I need to make sure I can still utiliz my subs until I get something else (mabye a 12" RE SE ported ) |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 152 Registered: Jan-08 | I guess I am just going to utilize that RockFord diagram |
Silver Member Username: Philly306., North carolina Post Number: 742 Registered: Apr-07 | "so since this amp is a mono block and only runs a 1 ohm" not trying to pick apart your words but thats wrong. a monoblock amp can work at any impedance(that most car subs can present) the load causes the output to be more or less.(except for the continious power amps) your amp will work at at any impedance that you subs can present as long as the amp is safe at whatever ohm load you wire it to. you can use that diagram that paul posted as long as the sub are dual 4 ohm www.bcae1.com learn now, know later. just trying to help man |

See I am still learning..I have been in to car audio for a long time. I have never been a member of a message board talking to knowledgable people though. I have always learned everything on my own. Thanks, Nick. |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 157 Registered: Jan-08 | im going to take out a sub and see if it is a dual 4...if so i am going to wire both of them (using that digram) to one ohm for the hifonics brutis...thanks again i didnt know that |
