Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 7796 Registered: Jul-06 | 1 Icon 1 Elite 2 Classics 1 ID MAX 1 Sundown Nightshade 1 Epic 1 Mag 1 IA DP What I've got it narrowed down to. Gonna run 1k to whatever one I get (Epic would get 600-800). Will go in a low tuned box about 30hz roughly. Not too worried about buying used. Pro's/Con's of any of these subs. Which should I not consider? Which would you get? I hate making decisions.... |

Mag is takin to long to come out, epic looks nice, ID max is kinda pricey, and the best price seems to be the Icon but I dont know how good they are. |

SI is waiting until they can beat the old mags output and SQ |

Silver Member Username: DenimWww.TeamSSAudio.com, MD Post Number: 553 Registered: Nov-06 | Yanks, I think some of the divers listed are a little away from what you want. I am biased towards one because it is my company, but if your goal is a sound quality that has the ability to have strong output in a daily driver, then the IDMAX, MAG, and ICON are the ones that are designed for that purpose. I have not tested the DP or the Nightshade, but they are more focused on output first and very high power handling. Sure I could sit here and say just get the ICON, but honestly the MAG, the IDMAX and even the Fi Q are top notch SQ drivers too. |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 7884 Registered: Jul-06 | Thanks for that Denim. Must say, I like and respect the fact that you didn't come on here and say just get the Icon. |
Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 162 Registered: Jan-08 | This is a dumb question...but I have never heard of tuneing a box...I know how to tune the amp and HU...but what r u guys talkin about?? |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 7892 Registered: Jul-06 | Nick S, in a ported box, you tune the box to a certain frequency. Most daily boxes are between 30-40hz while "burp" boxes used for competitions will be higher. A box tuned to 30hz will play lower than a box tuned to 40hz. People who use ported boxes and are looking for a more sq set-up will tune aroud 30-35hz. The tuning of the box is made by the length of the port in the box. Sub companies will give you a certain frequency or even sometimes a range you should tune in. |
Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 12411 Registered: Jun-06 | It's a combination of box size, port length/width, internal volume (sub displacement included), and any damping factors(if used). Like Yanks said it's all about what you want out of the system. To me a sealed system is more SQ oriented. Tighter bass. Ported, or (vented) for more efficient bass. It's all about the airflow with ported. Not saying a sealed box won't get low. JMO. |

Silver Member Username: Alpine97Paramount, California USA Post Number: 165 Registered: Jan-08 | Ok well I have it narrowed down. I am going to run the Hifonics 1600 watt brutis amp on two of the following (ported) 12" 2 type R's 2 Kappas ( what I have now) 2 kicker CVX 2 eclipse 7200 or 1 RE SX What would be the loudest and what would be the best SQL??? I really want it loud |
