So after hearing so many good things about DD i decided to start saving for a 9515 but i also need an amp to power it, so i was thinking why not go for like a DDZ its rated for 5000 watts 1 Ohm, but not too sure if thats RMS though.
Then i realised that i haven't really heard anything about Digital Designs making good amps. So thats basically my question should i bother setting my sights on that amp or not??
The DD amps are ok. If I were you, take a look at the Adessa line of amps. They are located in Europe and shipping may not be as bad. Are you looking at running 1 or 2 9515's?
DD Z1a, that is the amp to have! I blew one because I mounted it to the back of my box but I am able to repair them so I won't cry over a $1400 blowup, lOl. I just got a IA 40.1 for a backup and dude this amp puts out mad amounts of power plus is smaller than my Z1a. Polo..
ive been offered 429 for a m1,but this dealer sell stuff cheaper than others, ive thought about getting a 3515,but there prolly wouldnt be any difference between that and my sx 15
Kevin:- I'm only looking to get one, i wanna try and keep as much storage space as i can and from what i hear this DD sub will be perfect foer the sound i want without investing in multiple subs and amps and things.
you know i was trying to remember the name of Adessa so i could check they're amps out i just couldn't put my finger on it.
The mission statment for this new setup is spend big on quality sounds that will last for many years to come.
Actually, if you are looking for a sub that will get extremely loud on the 3K and only require a 3CF net box then look no further than a TC Sounds 5200 15"! This sub requires such a small box because of its extreme BL great sub and it will handle a lot of power, have mine on a IA 40.1 right now! Polo..
LMS is a linear driver, uses a Linear 4hp motor with extended throw but it is inherently inefficient due to the extra large pole gap needed for the coil. Now the 5200 uses a 4hp non-linear motor with not as much throw but has an extreme BL of around 43, nearly double that of the linear, has an effect on ports, makes for a louder driver nearly 3db louder. Both are great subs but the 5200 takes up less space and can be ran on less power if you wanted to. Polo.
the 5200 looks quite nice actually and if it performs as well as you're saying then it'd be perfect. but i'm still leaning more towards the DD sub though, its captured my heart for some reason
The DDZ series sub will cost in excess of $2500 us dollars. 9500 series with composite cone will be much more affordable and still perform at world class levels.
DD amplifiers are outstanding! Call around to find a dealer close to you for pricing on all products. The M3 has plenty of power to run a 9515.
The M3 was 1.2 db higher than the modded MMats 3500.05 in our testing. Each amp at 1/4 ohm in same car, same box, same subs, same everything, direct drop in results.... 158.5 Mmats 159.7 DD M3 Resting voltage = 13.1 M3 voltage drop= 12.1 MMats voltage drop= 12.4
