is there any accesory tht u can buy so that u can use the ipod itself to select music and not use the headunit?? i saw something yest made by a company called USA spec but i didnt fully understand if it would be an upgrade from the alpine ida-x001 full speed cable or a downgrade and it said you need a seperate part tht i couldnt find anything else?? because i think it would look cool usuing my ipod touch to change tracks in the car since i just bought a little holder for it.

u kno the alpine ida-x001 has no cd slot right? you have to get an external cd changer if you ever want to listen to any cds. i doubt it tho cuz ur using the ipod...but using the ipod thru the HU isnt that bad, i have mines hooked up to my premier d780mp that i just installed last week, all you gotta do is make a playlist r shuffle the songs.....o yea that HU also doesnt come with a remote..jus a lil FYI, but im sure u did ur research lol

just use the full speed, that's what it's there for. if you have alot of songs, and by alot I mean at least 5k, then start making playlists

i have that dual deck that like flips out... i had a cable called a Ycable that is a normal jack that splits into rca's and my deck has imput rca's so yea.. only downer is it doesnt charge your ipod. i have been looking for a deck that charges your ipod and lets you use the ipod to control it forever and cannot find anything... kinda g@y.

Yea did my research V.T thanks tho. Ok do you lose any SQ by using the RCA inputs and dnt u need those imputs to plug speakers in or something. I'm a straight noob when it comes to HU wiring. All I kno about is te remote turn on wire.

there's goin to be 3 Rca's output: subwoofer output, rear output, front outputs....but i dunno how you would hook up ipod to the rcas and how that works....if i was you, your better off controlling it off the HU thats what its for, u dnt wanna lose control and get into an accident trying to find a song controlling it thru your ipod lol.

You will lose SQ when using RCA inputs compared to a direct connection to the HU cd changer or accessory port. Reason is that port is digital, so the audio is exactly as it originated at the ipod. RCAs are analog, therefore the audio is converted from digital to analog and back to digital when it gets into the HU. Every time it converts you lose quality.

The RCA inputs will still sound MUCH better than an FM transmitter, or wired FM adapter though. There is a terrible amount of quality loss with those.
