Bronze Member Username: GrandhustlePost Number: 21 Registered: Feb-07 | I need someone with a bit of audio system savvy and a lot of patience. I'm so tired of trying to build me up a nice system and it comes out just not how I expected. Please someone help me before I start crying =[ I need any advise I can get. I'm basically trying to get a really hard hitting bass with clear crisp vocals over the bass. I want to get a really nice head unit as well with DVD and CD capability. I dont know which one to get! I've been researching for daaaays and I cant come up with the best one. Right now, I have a Kenwood KVT-619DVD head unit and I just got it 2 days ago. I already HATE it. Im taking it back tomorrow morning and I really need to know a couple things. -what is a good head unit to get? -what speakers do I need and which will sound the best for the highs? -what kind of amp do I need to get the most out of the new speakers? -any other information that would help I really need help gathering a list of exactly what I need so any help will GREATLY be appreciated! |

After more researching, I really like the Pioneer in-dash that they have the AVIC-D3 along with the CD-I200 ipod connection. Seems like everyone loves it. I don't want a navigation unit and I think it comes separate with the unit right? If so, this one looks like a winner. Now I got to find the right speakers to put in... |
Bronze Member Username: GrandhustlePost Number: 23 Registered: Feb-07 | Pioneer AVIC-Z2... that one looks nice as well except I think it's too much. I dont need a nav unit and it has 30 gigs of space to hold songs which is nice. Still trying to decide... |

They should have a DIY how to remove the door panel. If worst comes to worst have the shop remove the panels, then start your work from there. Sound deadening is not hard, its peeling and applying, an 8 yr old could do it. Just takes ALOT of time. Theres no way they would seal do that job for 200. The links on Best Buy don't work. Type R's don't really sound good, I have one myself. If you want what your trying to achieve get the system I suggested. Don't work your way around it. Silver Member Username: MarcoooPost Number: 152 Registered: Mar-07 | Not horrible suggestions mike, but there are better for what he wants. If you want "really hard hitting bass with clear crisp vocals over the bass" then get a 12" Fi Q. It gets REALLY low and you'll be hard pressed to find a sub with better SQ. https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=15476ec822e2ff7/shopdata/0020_Q/product_overview.shopscript I'm sure those speakers are OK, but there's better for the price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Diamond-Audio-HEX-S600S-6-5-Component-Speakers-Tw eeter_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38646QQihZ010QQitemZ200185465666QQrdZ1QQsspagen ameZWDVW Other ones that are much more expensive, but close to "the best" are: http://www.hybrid-audio.com/products.htm http://www.mainstreet-audio.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code= XS65&Category_Code=IMSPK http://www.mainstreet-audio.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code= CXS64&Category_Code=IMSPK http://www.cdtaudio.com/car_audio.htm All good http://www.focal-america.com/ All good http://www.morelhifi.com/products/mob_2way.html All good http://car.rainbow-audio.de/products/introduction.php?lan=2&pro=1 Once again all good http://www.seas.no/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 All good... http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/speakers/6-1-2/ And finally all good ^All are expensive also, but their lower models are worth the price. Mike why would you suggest an amp that puts out 180rms for 50rms speakers? Whatever speakers you get I'd go with the companies amp if they make one or a Kicker, for the price their quality is very hard to beat. |

I asked him why he didn't get a Q then, heard it before he got his system, and he said because he didn't have the money. Therefore Infinity is budget IMO. All those speakers I suggested are just as good and most likely better than the Pioneers. You haven't really done a good job backing them up besides saying they're the best I'm right your wrong, go suck a d!ck. Anyone heard them and can compare? Listening to my system, the bass sounds alright when its at like -10 and the volume cranked up. If I push the subs, they get all distorted and fucked up. Idk if its the box I have them in or the amp doesnt push out enough power? It sounds like its trying to hit too hard... Idk its weird. I got them set up with thick guage wire like 4 i think and it was professionally installed so I doubt install is the problem... Speakers are definitely lacking in highs and I need to upgrade those. I need some decent speakers, not BEST. I'm not going into competitions or anything I just wanna have decent stuff 2 bump. I always listen 2 rap and the beats need to thump. My trunk rattles a little when the bass is turned down with the treble up way high. If i turn up the bass a little, my trunk might pop open. For speakers, what size do I need for the front and back? My other friend has Kappa's and both boxes, the Q and Kappa's, were made by me and another friend, not the friend who has the Kappa's, to the subs specs. 2) While all my opinion's stand, in my mind I owe you an apology mike for coming off as an azz. While I don't agree with some of what your saying I shouldn't have attacked you as I kind of did and I'm sorry. Been in a bad mood the last few days, I'm sure anyone can relate to coming off as an azz to someone when they're pissed off about something else... Not because of the Holidays if that's what you were wondering lol 3) When I gave those brands and said "All good" I meant whatever you choose you'll like because most likely he won't choose the lowest brand for not having a price range and I didn't feel like pointing out specific models when I know he can do that himself if by nothing more than based on price. Grandhustle I'd say your amp is clipping. You need to simply turn the gain on your amp down or set your gain with a DMM. Here's how: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143 |
