I bought a Dual XDVD8183 about 1 month ago and it started failng toturn on. I never shut my radio off before leaving my truck. When I getback in and start the truck the radio just comes on. Well about 2weeks ago when I started my truck the secondary LCD showed the wordsbye-bye on startup which is what it does on shut down. At first all Ihad to do is push the display button and all went well. Now when ithappens the radio acts dead but the blue LCD is lit and says bye-bye.It will not shut down manually, no sound, screen will not come up,nothing. I have to shut the truck off and restart it to get the radioto straighten out. The store took it back as defective and now the newone 1 week old is doing it. I know it is wired up right. What could bethe problem? Anyone else experience this? I have not tried reset yetbecause it takes everything back to factory reset and I just did notwant to screw with starting over with the programming. Do you thinkthis happens because I did the e-break wire bypass?? When it workseverything works. Failures are not often but very annoying.
it's possible that ur wires are not tight or came loose. who wired it you or the store u got it from? i never owned this unit but wasintrested and never seen this in all the research so i think ur e brake or wiring in general has a short, or something came loose. don't be bull headed always check wiring no matter how much u say it's right things happen and this sounds just like that. prob when u installed the new unit u moved the wire back in place and it worked. now after driving it lost connection. on a final not dual has been never a good brand, but the radio is touted as a really decent unit so u shouldn't have failure. the best advice is to check ur acc and clock wires with a multi meter. good luck
