New member Username: RellikflPost Number: 1 Registered: Dec-07 | Aight, First off I got a Ford Taurus. I'm looking to get some decent quality/priced subs, preferably 2x12". Im also gonna need an Amp and all the necessary stuff. My buddy can install it, I just dont know what to get? I been looking at some JL, MTX and Kicker Subs, Im just curious as what would be good for my car. I know this should go in speakers section, but Im also looking to replace the 4 door speakers aswell, any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1869 Registered: Dec-06 | How much money are you planning on spending for an amp, box, wires, and subs? Also, do you want loud, loud and good sounding, or just very clean sounding? |
New member Username: RellikflPost Number: 3 Registered: Dec-07 | How much money, I honestly dont know, under a grand for sure tho. As far as loud or good? Is both possible? If not then clean would be my choice. |
New member Username: RellikflPost Number: 4 Registered: Dec-07 | I might go over a grand if i have to, but I prefer not to. |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1870 Registered: Dec-06 | Yeah it's definitely possible. It would really help if you decided on a general budget anyway. It's hard to come up with something without that. |
New member Username: RellikflPost Number: 5 Registered: Dec-07 | Lets say $800? |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1871 Registered: Dec-06 | OK sounds good. Last questions...can you build a box, or will you need someone to make one for you? Also, for that amount of money I assume you don't want to have to upgrade your electrical system correct? (In other words stay under 1500 watts or so?) |
Silver Member Username: MarcoooPost Number: 121 Registered: Mar-07 | I'd say stay under 1000 watts if you don't want any electrical problems. Before I got an alt, big 3 and additional battery my lights were dimming so much they'd go off for a sec when my bass hit lol. Ford Escape on 1500 watts w/ no electrical upgrades = not good, for me anyways lol |
New member Username: RellikflNew Port Richey, FL USA Post Number: 6 Registered: Dec-07 | I'm pretty good with carpentry but I never made a box before. I have a few buddies that can make one, or I can buy one if you have a suggestion. Do I need to upgrade my electrical? I mean 1500W is pretty good right? |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1872 Registered: Dec-06 | Yeah that should be more than enough for you. I'm gathering some info right now. Give me 5 minutes and I should have a pretty good recommendation for you. |

New member Username: RellikflNew Port Richey, FL USA Post Number: 8 Registered: Dec-07 | BCS, thanks for he help, much appreciated. I am also looking to replace the door speakers as well, I dont know if your factoring that in or not. |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1873 Registered: Dec-06 | Here is what I would suggest. I would purchase Cal Payne's two 12" Stereo Integrity BM. They sound very good and hit hard. He's a great guy and has a pretty good price on them. He's asking $300 shipped to your door. Then I would pick up an amp that does 1000-1200RMS. I currently have one I am trying to sell, but there are many you could choose from. I have a Rockford Fosgate 1000-1bd BNIB that I don't need. If you're interested we could work out a good price. If not, there is always eD nine.1, Sundown 1000d, and many others. As for the dimming, you should be alright with this amount of power. Here's a link to the SI if you wanna take a look. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3782345#post3782345 |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1874 Registered: Dec-06 | I am not a good one to ask about the door speakers. Someone will come along and give you a good answer for that. If you're doing $800 for all of it, this may put you over budget. I would consider spending the $800 on the subs and maybe save up for speakers at a later date? |
Silver Member Username: MarcoooPost Number: 126 Registered: Mar-07 | Talk to Kevin at Low-Hz.com. 2 12" RD Classics and a RD1000.1 for under 600 shipped. Gonna be hard to beat for that price, but from what I've heard the SI BM's are good too. |

Silver Member Username: MarcoooPost Number: 130 Registered: Mar-07 | Kicker = bad sound quality. JL = good, but expensive. Trust me you'd rather have some nice RDs or SIs lol |
Bronze Member Username: RellikflNew Port Richey, FL USA Post Number: 11 Registered: Dec-07 | I believe ya, but whats a good 12" JL Model. JL 12" range from like $99-$600. |

Gold Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 2229 Registered: Mar-06 | no offense mark, but the kicker pkd1 is an all around better kit, it has hyperflex 1/0, pre-crimped 1/0, awesome distrobution blocks, and a really nice ANL... IMO |
Silver Member Username: MarcoooPost Number: 134 Registered: Mar-07 | I just didn't see speaker wire, but besides that I'd agree with you. Sides I just bought some of their speaker wire and RCA twisted so I'ma be biased for a day or two lol |
