How would I got about using a kicker cvr12 I have laying around for my computer subwoofer. Because my suite mates in my dorm need to know what real bass is when they least expect it...

Build a little box for it, get a plate amp (search Parts Express, eD), a 3.5 mm stereo plug splitter, and a 3.5 mm stereo plug to RCA adapter.

I would not recommend doing this, go buy a home theatre subwoofer.. not a car woofer.. you will never get enough power to the sub for it to sound as good as a car unless you spend a lot of money for a power supply ($500+)... do it the right way :-)

It's not like hes building a HT system. He just wants to have something as a computer sub. Go with what cam said if you want something that will just sound decent.

You can get a 1000w plate amp for about $340 or so. That's plenty of power for the home. Trust me.

$330 is a good deal. It's also the one I use with my Q. Also with my Mag. I absolutely love it.

From my knowledge it doesn't.

Are you planning on a sealed or ported enclosure?

Subsonic filters are used mainly for ported enclosures to keep the sub from over exurting, usually below 20 hz. Depends on how low you tune your box to also.

Hey, from my use and abuse, she's held up great. I don't push it at 80% volume at 80% gain either. At 50% gain I can't go above 40% volume or so without everything falling off my shelves. I found my "sweet" spot. Everyone's is different. (Enviornmental conditions).
