Monday, December 17, 2007 - 03:33 GMT M.S. I'm considering the alpine mrp-m650, with this setup, would i need a HO alternator or a high perfomance battery?

Monday, December 17, 2007 - 03:41 GMT No your stock charging system should support a 400 watt amp. Plus that amp will be more efficient (less demand on the electrical system) than the one Kevin recommended since it's class D.

Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - 21:49 GMT you guys think i should use dynamat extreme to cover my whole trunk with that setup? I was quoted a price of $300, that includes: dynamat extreme, install, and after taxes.

Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - 22:24 GMT Dynamat = way overpriced Plus with 400w I doubt it would make much difference.

Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 17:38 GMT You will be safe running an efficient 1000 rms amp which would be class D. 550 rms from a class A/B will be fine as well on your electrical. I installed a RD 1000D in my cousins 2000 civic with same electrical as yours and no issues. Little dimming but not horrible with stock battery. Change battery like he did and you will no longer have dimming issues. Kevin

Friday, December 21, 2007 - 02:58 GMT Thats normal. Happens in any car. And the dynamat IMO not worth it.

Friday, December 21, 2007 - 15:06 GMT it's normal, but i'm thinking about doing Big 3 and maybe... maybe... change the battery. My car has like a year and i've never had problems with Huge voltage drops and stuff, if you can upgrade your charging system then ok do it

Friday, December 21, 2007 - 20:28 GMT what you see when your power windows dim your lights is an instantaneous, fairly high current demand. It takes a fraction of a second for the alt to react and catch up. 400-600w should be an issue, even with a small electrical system.
