icon is really similar to the Q if you ask me. SSA gave themself a bad rep around here if you ask me. i would go with the Q over the icon.

also check out a havoc

Yeah it is very similar to the Q. Why do you say that SSA gave themselves a bad rep around here? I dont know for sure but it is rumored that Steve built the Icon. Also the Havoc is a very good choice as well.

Mark La Fountain (Owner of SSA) did a 148.4 with a pair of Icon 15's in a 8Cube enlosure tuned to 35Hz. Not bad for a pair of SQ subwoofers....

could those really be considered SQ, haha? i've never been a huge fan of Icons, but i may give them a look... the kind of SQ im talking bout is just clear, clean, bass then thumps every note, and one that can mash some lows. i don't really care how loud it will get on the mic. i just want it to get loud on the low notes...

idmax from online dealers run $450 shipped. if you have a dealer close though, have heard of some selling at cost ($275). i could talk to someone and maybe get one for you at cost, plus shipping, if you want.

hmm that might be a great option mike... lemme talk to my dad and see what he's thinking... also he's a big fan of JBL... he used to be big into audio a long time ago like when sony made good products, and jensen triads were badass speakers, but he does acknowledge JBL as being good so i was wondering about the GTi woofers and how their SQ is

no jesse steve didnt make it but the name does start with an S. anyway i say they gave themselves a bad rap in my eyes as well as some others because just like lowhz there is a right way and a wrong way to conduct business, and talking sh;t on forums about eachother isnt really something i want to support.

plus i know scott will stand behind the Q like he does with his other products and their wont be a problem.

iv always heard good things about that GTI. i would also look into some rainbow subs. i cant remember the price off the top of my head.

Trust me, the ICON and Q are different woofers. Different coil/motor/gap/cone/back plate/top plate/ moving mass etc. They preform similar in the realm of SQ subs that can take 1000 watts.

Mark only put our subs in an SPL comp was to push their limits and see what they will do since so many people ask.
