Gold Member Username: camPost Number: 1239 Registered: Nov-06 | If you want to do a pair of 18s with that kind of budget, go Mach 5. In your place, however, I'd save up more. Running a true 3 kW just won't happen on that kind of budget. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 4381 Registered: Jul-06 | Yeah. If you're sticking with that amp, maybe get SSDs if you really want Fi subs. That amp would have the proper power for 2 of those. |
Silver Member Username: BoomtankRochester, NY USA Post Number: 399 Registered: Oct-06 | (2) 18" Fi.BL's loaded are $688 so unless your getting your 3Kw amp for $122 shipped i don't think thats in your budget. Also what kind of vehicle do you have. (2) 18" require a lot of space. |
Gold Member Username: HdubbTeam Revolution Post Number: 3057 Registered: Nov-04 | imo you dont need 3k to have a great system. if i had 8-900 bux to play with and i wanted new equipment i would go with a single 15 and about 2k of power. this would give you room to give the 15 some good amount of airspace. but dont know what kind of car you have. fyi i have a subaru wagon, and i can onlt fit 1 18 in there. thats with a 9cu ft box after all displacement. so 18s are hard to do unless you have a big ol suv. i would run a si mag 15 with a rd audio 1750.1 the 1750.1 can be had for lik 425 i believe from havoc audio, or low hz. th mag con be gotten from low hz as well. |
Silver Member Username: Big_fletchNewport, Ar, Ar United states Post Number: 678 Registered: May-06 | i know a guy local that is selling his for 150$ for the amp but ill prolly talk him down to 120$ anyways im pretty set on getting (2) fi 18's but not set on getting an amp but i have a 2002 caddy escalade so i have plenty of room for 18's....ohhh yea u think i should make the box with the subs facing up and port towards the hatch or subs facing the hatch with the port as well? |
Gold Member Username: HdubbTeam Revolution Post Number: 3059 Registered: Nov-04 | oh i see. well id go subs up and port back. if you have a caddy...why only 800 bux on a system? just asking... =) |

Silver Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 880 Registered: Apr-07 | I would buy the two BLs and either save for a good 3krms amp (A rockford t2000 or t3000 would do great), or run them off that amp until you could save up for the bigger one. If you have an excalade you know you have to do it big |
Silver Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 881 Registered: Apr-07 | sorry, ^Escalade, playing call of duty 4 while typing ftl |
Silver Member Username: Big_fletchNewport, Ar, Ar United states Post Number: 679 Registered: May-06 | lol yea they sayin is go big or go home but gas is a killer now days agree? anyways im kinda scared cause im not sure what to expect from the amp if i get it, will the amp power both subs? and why does people say its louder when u face the subs up and the port faced to the hatch? |

Silver Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 882 Registered: Apr-07 | I'm sorry, but going from 2 18s to 2 13s would be a huge loss in cone area. 1 18 would have roughly the same area as 2 of those 13s, and 1 BL would also handle more power. |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 7285 Registered: Jun-04 | i was thinking about space issues... low end boom focus... and being easy on his charging system |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 7286 Registered: Jun-04 | and his budget of 800 dollars as well as a decent brand new amp |
Silver Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 883 Registered: Apr-07 | I understand price/size, but there's hope to wait. I'd rather have a sing BL 18 off 1 bxi2006d , that would only be about 700. Then a 2nd pair down the road. 1 nice T3k would be worth the wait though |

Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 7288 Registered: Jun-04 | but guys hows hard is it to get an amp that puts out 800 rms at 4 ohms a simpe mtx 81000d or a mtx 1501d would suit that job they are rated 500 rms at 4 ohm and 1000 rms at 2 ohm but actually put out 750 plus rms birthsheet at 4 ohms and 1500 plus rms birthsheet at 2 ohms...( I owned the mtx 81000d its a solid amp the mtx 1501 d is the same amp just a new look) |
