with my new system im saving up for, im gonna upgrade to a new/better HU....hopefully a flipout/monitor....ive been looking at a few of them and ive came up with the fact that im gonna have to spend around $1k for a solid one.

my criteria for them is simple, must be able to play mp3 cds and dvds. also must be able to have navigation....

these are a few ive looked at:

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3797

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5731

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3792

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5791
^^^doesnt say anything about playing cds/mp3s but im gonna assume it does....right?

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5024

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5925

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6080

obviously i havent narrowed much of anything down yet. prices vary from $750-$1300. i dont know much about these things. any of these on the list unreliable? crappy? needs to be taken off the list for consideration? any of you own any of these or know much about them and can lead me in a ood direction? shold i get a flipout or just go with a 7" monitor? pros/cons?

dont get the panasonic, especially if it's a christmas present, because it doesn't look that great and doesnt have that many incredible features... i really want the unit in the system i showed you... it's got a 3,000 song hard drive to hold songs, good eqs, and a lot of other features

i'd say DEFINITELY one of the eclipse double-din's or the avic-d2....eclipse HUs are really just all around great units especially their double din/navi's.....

if its goin in the scion, go double din, it looks so badazz...ive also seen some scions that the owner has to remove the hideaway plate for a flip out and thatd be lame, but thats just my opinion

Eclpise is the king of multi-media HUs. Alpines are also good though.

i've found the only problem with alpine is the low pre volt outs

And how is that a problem? Thats why amps have gain controls, to match the source unit.

may not be a problem, but can you really argue with a cleaner/hotter signal?

eclipse ftw

ive heard eclipse headunits in the past years and years back that claimed 8 volts out were actually a true 4 volt out......the car stereo shop I used to work at measured one...but according to Glasswolf a while back I heard the alpine headunits a few years back claimed 4 volts but were 2 volts true back when they made the 9805 and such I believe

well... from the reviews i heard you alomst have to buy the audio processor, another 300 bucks, for that unit to sound good... line drivers aren't as effective as having a higher voltage from the beginning...
