Just curious but would anything bad happen to the amplifier if your inline fuse was 20 amps over or short of the total amps on your amplifier?

Ex. Amps fuses add up to 180 but inline fuse is 200.

Inline fuse is based on the size of the wire not the amplifier.

Use the table on this page:

The fuse is there to protect your battery from a discharge after say a crash or something. It's not going to over-supply your amp or anything.

But be careful. If your power cable isn't the right gaugu then you might end up melting it. Like M.S. says, use his chart and you should be fine.

Ok, so I bought one of those 200A Circuit Breaker Fuses from SE and the thing wont even accept 0gauge which was rather disappointing. Took my handy dandy drill and tried to make the terminal wider to accept my wire but the whole thing shattered into pieces, lol. Smart move that was. Since it was destroyed I opened it up to find that all it was, was two pieces of cheap metal that would connect/detach. Some quality that was. Kinda glad it broke...

Anyone know of a nice fuse holder that will accept 0gauge wire that isn't an ANL?

you could have trimmed the 0guage to fit

Use an ANL fuse holder they are designed for large gauge wire.

the 0gauge was no where close to fitting in the terminal...

when you trim the wire down on the last half of an inch it doesnt matter. the transfer of power will not suffer. People do it all the time..

Thanks for the positive comment on the pic I posted!!!!!!!!!

- it does matter because the wire trimmed will end where it is trimmed as well as the voltage going through it... Just do it right and it will be better... If the transfer power didn't suffer than there is no point of upgrading the wire to a thicker guage, plus the thinner section of wire will not be able to handle the current of the rest of the wire creating a weak spot in your wiring, not to mention that doing that will speed up the corrosion process by having constant arcing at the terminals where the wire was trimmed. But you can do it however you want, I will do it right.....

"people do it all the time" - doesn't mean it is correct or best way of doing it!!!!
