I was told not to run the amp on a 16V system but I tried it anyways and even modded the amp, well on a full charge and 1ohm load my big baby let out the poof of death, so gotta rip it all out to get new stuff in so might as well be now! I will take pictures as I repair the amp.. Polo.  |

Honestly I probably would have been ok on just 16V but ya they were fully charged at 18.3V so it just couldn't take it. I modded the amp by removing the overcurrent protection circuit this allowing it to destroy itself. Unlike human death, this isn't permanent! I will bust out the DMM, and O-scope find the bad parts and get to ordering. That 5200 actually cracked the front baffle of my Kerf box so I will cut and knock it out then get the new box ready for insertion. BTW LilKnob, when it popped I didn't even flinch let alone cry sooo STFU, lOl. The best news is that the 5200 held up, unlike the last POS... Polo |
