OK...I have finally gotten my two SS RL-i 8s fully installed, so I figured I had better do a little review. Let me start off by saying that my listening experience is far from extensive, but I have heard a decent number of systems.
First, the specs. (2) SS RL-i 8" in a 1.2cuft box tuned to 30hz, running off a Rockford Fosgate t5001bd (1036RMS)
Let me say that these little things are beasts. They are beefy as hell and pack a lot of punch for 8s. The bass hits surprisingly low and sounds great all the way from 20hz to 80hz.
Second, the sound quality is superb. As I said, my listening experience is limited, but it sounds better than the only real SQ woofers I have heard (Infinity Perfects). They sound great with any kind of music, and I ran thru my whole spectrum.
Finally, the output is great as well. I expected the SQ to be excellent, but I did not expect them to have this kind of output. However, these things pumped the bass out. In fact, it was louder than the 12" L7 I just pulled out of my car (2.75cuft @ 32hz off 850RMS). The best part is that it was fairly even keeled throughout the entire range of notes.
Just as a side note, I have heard so much about the DD 1508s (and Wolfman's REs) that I would love to see a side-by-side comparison. I am confident that these RL-i's would hold their own quite nicely .
I have to say that these things completely impress me, and I would recommend them to anyone with space restrictions or someone who wants to impress with small subs. They sound great and hit hard for their size. If I missed anything you may want to know, tell me and I'd be happy to include more info.
I will try. I will have to go somewhere to try to get them, cuz we've already had the cops at our place 5 times this school year . And no, it had nothing to do with subs lol
"chad, go put your mask on and scare little kids dude....lol"
i will tonight. lol.
also the thing about my sound splinter is that on normal music the bass matches the speakers very well. it doesn't over power a certain frequecy. everything sounds balanced. when i put on a bass song, it shakes my windshields like crazy.
throw some beyma 8's in there and put a crap load of power and im sure they would shake soemthing, LOL but i was refering to "also the thing about my sound splinter is that on normal music the bass matches the speakers very well. it doesn't over power a certain frequecy." thats the trait of a good midrange.
