i am getting noise from the timing belt. kinda like a squeeking noise. i spray wd40 on it and it goes away for a bit but it comes back.

my friend told me at autozone they sell a spray that you spray on your timing belt and it will run smooth. does anyone know about that?

When your belt is squeaking it needs to be replaced. Those belt dressings only stop the squeak for a short time.

And since it's a timing belt, I would replace that ASAP if you have an interference engine. If the timing belt breaks on an interference engine, it can very easily destroy the motor.

yeah dont wanna mess with timing even those tho engines have very low timing, i would say below 20degrees, but yes the timin will hurt your motor, but its a good way to find hidden performance by changing the timing, and dont spary wd 40 on ANY of your belts, causes them to slip even more

chad i dont know about your year accord but the gen before are interface and if your timing belt breaks your valves are going to get bent the f uck up and damage the pistons.... the timing belt isnt to hard to change if you know your way around your engine.

i guess it could possibly bend a rod too.. but damaged pistons... no good.

no that SHOULDNT bend a rod, its just going to f uck the valves up, break them, score the cylinder walls and could shoot right threw the piston, but the rods shouldnt bend because the valve will give way first.

And with most honda's, when the timing belt breaks, the water pump seizes also.

Yes, your car won't run without it. If it is a bad belt, get it replaced ASAP.

its probably not common, but we run between 35-42 degrees in our motors, we wind them real tight and with the right gear we like to cross the line at 10,400rpm
