OK, so things sound real good with the new HU, but at higher volumes the front speaks distort. I've gone in and lowered the EQ and turned LOUDNESS off, which helped, anything else I can do..???

it migth be clipping dude....

what kind of wire does yoru wiring harness have??? 16 or 18 im guessing right???? well the amp produce around 50 watts rms with all the channels combined plus the lighting and cd mechanism thats around15 amps of current or what your cd player fuse is... so that 16 or 18 gauge can take 15 amps of current of all that long the wiring of your car is so try to upgrade that a bit...

but yeah make sure your speakers are installed good like is not loos that at high volumes makes weird soudn that are related to distortion... u can like what u did turn down some of the eq thats the best choice and well it migth be that ur headunit is too powerfull for your speakers

Are your front speakers connected to an amp or straight to the HU?
If your sub is not ditorting but your fronts are, try setting the fader to the rear a little so you dont give the fronts so much power. Just a thought...

ok, i messsed with the settings and got the front speaks to where they won't distort unless the HU is at pretty much full volume...
Chad, I dont have the Jensen any more, gave it to Nick.

but now the bad news>Went to my AA meeting tonight, was banging pretty good on the way,but turned things down before I pulled up in the parking lot. After the meeting, I leave, and am driving around, i turn on the radio and all I hear from the subs is a quick thump...then nothing.
So, I pull over into a grocery store parking lot, check things out....amp comes on, subs thump one time(because the amp powers up) then nothing...light on the amp is blinking and I don't think any power is getting to the subs. HELP!
I'll get my DMM tomorrow and check things, but I'm guessing I may have to open up the amp and see if maybe I blew something in it..
DAMN!

just a thought, maybe the hu powers off completly, and loses its settings, such as "sub on". Just a thought. Does memery hold? if so, nevermind.

I vote voltage drop. banging to AA may have drained the bat, and it recovered overnight. Throw a meter on that b1tch.

??? if 425 watt amp drained the battery, with the car running, theres a problem. Everything else works fine, I'm voting that I've fried a Mofset or something in the amp....
