i just got an orion 2500d, are you are supposed to run two sets of power and ground?

i found some info online on another model orion amp with two sets of inputs and it says " WARNING! The Orion HCCA-D5000 has two seperate four-gauge power and ground inputs. Both pairs of connections must use 4 AWG power wire for proper operation. Failure to do this may damage the amplifier and is not covered under warranty."

i ran it with only one set for about one hour total. the amp kinda started acting funny towards the end. im going to run the other set tomorrow. i hope i didnt do damage to it but you never know. ive never read anywhere online that amps with two sets of power and ground inputs had to both be used.

so, who all thinks i can fuck up a shit sandwich now?

ideally they work best with both inputs filled but they shouldnt work funny otherwise ...

i wouldnt run 4 guage to the amplifier anyways ... u can def fit 0 in there no problem ...

the amp was working great but then i started detecting clippage through the subs and little by little it seemed to get worse even though im cutting back more and more on the gain. right now it sounds great at like 30-40% volume but when you go up around 60%+ it starts clipping nasty.

im not trying to fuck anything up, ill run the other set before i put power back to the amp...

Its probably because it was trying to pull more power through the 4guage wire then what should be put through 4 awg. I think if you use something like 1/0 awg on it with just one it will be fine, but thats just my opinion.

If you open the amp up the input power and grounds should be parallel to eachother so...it really should be fine. How did you set the gain?

Well go and test what it's putting out at the outputs, that's the first thing I would check to see for why the clippage exists .
