Im suprised your amp didnt take a dump on u to. That combo is a bad combo. You need to get DVC .5ohm to keep that amp running safe and decent power to the sub (max power the amp does safly is at 1ohm i think) But im not even sure if they come in DVC .5ohm, if not look for DVC 2ohm otherwise new amp is needed, you wont be to happy with the sub being on 1\3 of the power u were used to when it was running wrong.

it was a dual 1 ohm sub, wired paralell that mkes it .5 ohm, im gonna buy the dual 2 ohm so i can wire it down to 1 ohm, the amp is stable at one ohm or higher, it was not m fault it was the horrible place called texas sounds

dual .5?!?!?!?? ive never heard of an amp that is stable at .25 ohm, which is what it would be?!?!? unless u did it series back up to 1, its easier to get a 2 ohms and paralell is it 1 ohm

Thats what i said if they make DVC 2ohm thats perfect, otherwise if they made DVC .5ohm that would work. I know u had the DVC1ohm which isnt a good combo. I would still get a new amp though, i heard that sub doesnt get going good until its at like 3-4Krms or more

Lots of amps can run .25ohm if your charging is up for it. Whick most are not.

I thought those came with an extra recone kit. That should tell you something about their durability.

no amps are actually considered *stable* by the manufacturer but if you have good charging systems where u can hold a constant higher voltage you dont create as much heat so it stays working... some kickers and other amps... but most people only burp the amps and dont run it daily lower then .5ohm

"The stereo comp I was just at some guy blew his 15" Solo X as well......sound like great subs."

Funny stuff...obviously making things up because you can easily see that it's not a 15 inch sub. There is no 15'' Solo X.

"I thought those came with an extra recone kit. That should tell you something about their durability."

Nope. The Solo X is very durable I owned one for a year myself and it takes a hell of a beating.

"I've seen those laugh at 3000w daily. I would not be suprised if that amp is not toasted."

Yep.I fed mine about 3krms daily and never had an issue, the problem is user/installer error. It's things like this that give Kicker's subs a bad name but oh well.

^^ Agree. I remember when you got the sub and everyone told you to get more power. What did you set your SSF to, and what did you tune your port to?

I think that thing was clipped soooo bad it's amazing you couldn't hear it. I'm not bashing you, but I'm saying you aren't doing that sub justice, and the fact that you burned it up like that shows the amp wasn't set right- as it sure wasn't overpowered.

Sundown audio used to warranty their amps at .5 ohms, but then people started doing stupid stuff like putting a bunch of amps at .25 ohms with a stock charging system

I'm amazed that amp plays at 1/2 ohm ok, I know I couldn't get the 2000 to play at 1/2 for long at all, and I was TRYING to damage it. Good luck, hope it works out for you. I'd still get a kicker 2500 for it at 2 ohms.

Rob

Maybe it was a 12" then , I don't make useless information up it was a solo X' and it was big with no magnet almost like the pic above but with more wound copper wires still intact.

And this is coming from a guy who has 3 amps that no one would believe off hand without pics so Why lie about a blown Solo X? Guy won a prize for bringing the sub up to the announcer.

I don't think so as I've seen a Kicker guy who runs an 18" Solo X in a wall and it was smaller than that.

ya i think im gonna get the huge hifonics, i forgot what its called, i just need money though, i started school so im kinda broke, i forgot what the freq was at but it was in the kicker manual, ya the amp aparently is fine.......thats what we thought was wrong with the setup, but when i got the amp teested it was fine.............then i popped off the spair and it was UGLY man, it took me ten minutes to pull the coil out. ya screw texas sounds!!!!!........they denied everything and refused to take responsibilty for wiring the amp to .5 ohm, those people are evil man, i hate them sooooo much.....you would think with the knowledge it takes to get certified he would have done it right, but NOOOOO i mean i could have done a better job, correction i AM gonna do a better job, maybe ill take a video and put it on for u guys to see

i agree. it's just that there are so many people that buy kicker and most of them don't know what they're doing. they don't do well above their rms rating but at rms they do fine. the percentages of people having a problem with kicker is probably the same as any other mainstream company.

For daily feed the sub 3k RMS and it will handle it as long as it's clean power. For comps run at least 5k RMS.

They only come in dual 1 or dual 2. If you get an amp that is 1ohm stable get the 2ohm. If you get an amp that is stable down to .5ohm or only 2ohm....get the dual 1ohm. I have a 18" solo running off a rockford t40001bd. I set the gains correctly and I have had no problems with it.
