So I got this pioneer amplifier: GM4300F which is: 40w RMS x 4 at 4 ohms or 100w RMS x 2 bridged(4 ohms stable bridged). After installed, when the unit is working it plays, but if the engine is started INMEDIATLY you could hear a very ...zZZZZZZZZZz like hissing noise, with the engine at idle, if I accelerate while having the car in neutral it will give this noisy sound much louder (and almost nothing of music). The guy blames the low end cheap headunit: Pioneer DEH-3770MP http://www.pioneer.cl/www/Pioneer/PioneerCatalogo.nsf/93D52902421BAD7384256FCD00 7490C0/$file/DEH_3770MP.jpg The HeadUnit has no subwoofer output, so they are connected to the only RCA jack it has (named REAR), he then installed an RCA jack "Y Type" to split it, but mixing both rear and subwoofer. He then tried the same with another PIONEER headunit (that had lot's of RCA= FRONT, REAR and SUBWOOFER). and it played hard, with no noisy sound while engine was started. Therefore he says I should get a new headunit, because the one i have is to play stock speakers, NOT with subwoofers or amps. Is he right? |

You can't hook RCA's up to stock speakers, RCA's are made for amps. 3>However, you may have a bad HU, normally I would say the whine you're hearing is because of a bad ground on the HU, but since you said he tried another HU and it didn't whine...guess that rules that out. 4>and finally, are you running both a set of rear speakers AND a sub? Thats what it looks like you are saying. IF SO, return those rear speakers..and just run the sub off the RCA's...so called "rear fill" is not really necessary....IMO |

OR, the install guy is purposely doing something to try and sell you a better HU I agree with Wolfman...lose the rear speakers (unless you drive a boat and the subs are another 10 feet behind the rear speakers...LOL) Does the alt. whining sound happen on all the speakers or just front or rear? |
