2 - CV 12" V-Max Subs...What amp?

I've been noticing a lot of people talking about under-powering subs. I have a JL 500/1 going to 2 Cerwin Vega V-Max 4ohm 12s. They are rated at 600w rms and I have them wired parallel for a 2 ohm load at the amp.

Should I get a 1200w amp to push these to their best, or should I stick with the JL?

Thanks in advance.

It depends if you want to spend the money. You may as well push them to their full potential and get a new amp IMO.

Aren't the V-max dual voice coil subs?

Yes you would tell a decent difference doubling the power.

I wish. These are the single voice coil models. Probably the older version.

Is it an older amp? I only see a 1000 and a 1500 on their website?

hey, i just noticed you said you have the older ones..if you give them 1200w rms then you will probably blow them..the older ones can only handle 300rms per sub..the newer ones with the black surrounds will handle 600 rms each and only come in dual voice coil. so if yours have the red surrounds then dont get that amp.

Sorry for the double post but just to let you know you can probably get away with like 800w rms on both.i have an older 10 inch vmax and its rated for 200rms and i was giving it 300 rms daily and its fine. A great budget amp is the audiobahn a8000v, it will do 800w rms @ 2 ohms.
